"After seeing "Tattoo" shot on the new EPIC camera at RED Studios Hollywood on a 40' screen, the only thing I could think was that this looked like it was shot on 65mm film or with an IMAX camera. There was no visible grain or noise with beautiful shadow and highlight detail. The latitude and detail was incredible. I was so impressed that I will be shooting my next feature on EPIC 2.40:1 widescreen." Vilmos

Pretty cool...

:001_smile: Pile it on Jim! As if we're not bleeding here! J/K Boy I sure would love to see this on a 40ft screen. Can't wait until 4k is in every theater.

At the very first RED Day awhile back, I had the privilege of sitting with Vilmos for about 1/2 hour showing him through several clips of MX footage and the range that was possible with those early builds of MX, and he was impressed at that point... glad to see he has kept his interest and passion.

Best,

Lucas

congrats! This is an awesome quote. I too cant wait to shoot 2.40:1 Epic!

You don't need that imdb link, we all know who he is.

I really like this- we get to shoot with the same camera/s that people like Vilmos shoot (or are going to shoot) with. That's amazing to me. Thanks RED.

Fanboy Mode: ON: It has to be an amazing feeling when the guy who shot "Close Encounters" says he's going to use the camera you built. Congratulations! Fanboy Mode: OFF

Amazing news!!!

As we all know well that Vilmos Zsigmond is one of the best living cinematographers.

Now Steven Spielberg recent joke about RED camera at DGA 75th Anniversary Game Changer Event-Tribute to Steven Spielberg:

"Think how you good could be?...RED camera!!!"

can be turned as an opposite question (or even a joke) to Spielberg himself as Jim Cameron asked him before: "What about digital camera? How good you could be?" (means as a director here).

Btw, Vilmos Zsigmond shot "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (1977) until today probably Steven Spielberg's best movie (visually).

This news shows us that EPIC slowly but surely becoming a game changer.

Wow, this is fantastic news - HUGE fan of his! :)

"Everyone" will be shooting their next feature on EPIC.

Jim, that might just qualify as the understatement of the year. For me, Vilmos is one of the stars in the cinematographic firmament. Praise just doesn't get any higher than that!
