  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Vilmos Zsigmond...

"After seeing "Tattoo" shot on the new EPIC camera at RED Studios Hollywood on a 40' screen, the only thing I could think was that this looked like it was shot on 65mm film or with an IMAX camera. There was no visible grain or noise with beautiful shadow and highlight detail. The latitude and detail was incredible. I was so impressed that I will be shooting my next feature on EPIC 2.40:1 widescreen." Vilmos

Pretty cool...

I had the supreme pleasure to work as DIT for Vilmos on a feature shot with RED-M cameras here in Hungary. At the age of 80 (we celebrated his birthday on set) it was his first feature shot digitally! He seemed quite pleased with the cameras then (despite what happened after in post) and I am so glad to hear he will continue with the Epic. It was a real honor to work with and get to know not only such a consummate master of shaping light, but an all round super nice guy. He has more energy at 80 than most of us.

Just an anecdotal story: One night after shooting I was going home and stopped at the corner pub for a beer when next to me I found two English guys who turned out to be from Panavision London. They were a bit shocked to learn Vilmos was shooting on Red and one of them whipped out a film canister and gave me about 20" of film stock and begged me to stick it in the CF card slot and write "camera jam" on it and send them a pic. I told Vilmos about it and he said "OK, but we must write 'no camera jam' on it."

LOL

Wow, if one of the greats can switch at 81, what's everyone else's excuse?

That's the funniest thing I have heard in a while!
