They were away for a few days, I got a hold of them yesterday.

We had sent our system back mid february. The motors were drifting. Curt
adjusted a magnet on the Impero Encoder. The motors had older drivetrains that VF replaced. Everything came back yesterday...3 weeks.
In about a month I will send the system back for it's brand new motor internals.
The system is rock solid, much improved feel, smoother, quieter. Curt has been true to his word, and actually wanted me to wait before i replaced the motor internals, even though they were in his shop and he is paying shipping both ways! Shows he is a man of integrity albeit a small example. He just wants them to kick ass and they do. Many people should begin to get these systems soon and I think you will all be pleased. Mine had to be shipped back 4 times, it was not feasible for Curt and John to do that to hundreds and hundreds of systems.
Thanks Curt, John and VF team
Oh, and Konstantine your little bracket for the receiver works great/ doubles as drive mount as well. make those few modifications. Ill post a picture in another thread.

Hey, this looks great!! Is the Impero software-controllable? How will you drive it?

I'm working on a piece of software for that purpose. It will allow me to set up a number of keyframes and let the software calculate everything in between (with ease in & out). It can run in either realtime at full speed (or any percentage of that) or in time-lapse mode over a certain amount of time and trigger the RED on any given point (either start/stop, frame-ramping or stills). I'm sure Curt will develop a way to make the Impero receiver get something like the Canon HDSLRs to take a snapshot.

A friend of mine is a draftsman and he's working on designing a simple remote head so I can get pan & tilt too :-)

Since Curts system can run up to eight motors on each bus, I'm counting on getting FIZ control built into the system at some point.

I'm hoping to be using this thing (in a primitive form) for a shoot in about a month from now.

We'll see. Life has a tendency to get in the way ;-)

I move onto another waiting list. This was the reply after two emails over two days. I have removed my phone and email for privacy. I have also included my response to Viewfactor. I have not had any response. Just an example for anyone thinking about joining the Viewfactor family. I make no more judgments. Just some more information to educate the customers out there. I wish you all the best of luck. I still have not heard any more about my refund.

Carol,

Thank you for your prompt response. You have had my money, interest free, for a year and a half. No bank in the world would give you such a loan. I am done waiting. Please issue a refund to my Visa card immediately. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Zimbric

I would be surprised if you get a visa refund. I paid using a card and asked for money to be refunded back onto it. VF refused saying it wasn't their refund policy. So they posted me a cheque in USD half way around the world to the UK. I then had to get my bank to convert that back into GBP which incured a charge the whole thing cost ME about 200 pounds by the time I paid everything and the conversion rate shifted. It cost me to invest in VF and as a result I will never do it again with any company until I see working products in the field, lesson learned. Good luck with it.

Will you post any tests you do before that? The setup looks very original and the Imperos look very precise in the video you uploaded!

Absolutely. I'll be happy to share the plans for building this rig. I will most likely also post a free download to a basic version of the software if anyone is interested. I might charge a little for a pro version. We'll see.

Wonderful work Tony. How exciting!!! Looking forward to seeing the finished result in future.
BTW,where did you get your Gear belt (any Link and Size-info please)?

I had 2 meters of it made by a local company. Since the VF stuff comes with different mod gears it shouldn't be hard to find or have made.

Hey there, Tony. . . that's a totally cool use for the Inclino. . . but it is really loud. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Stephen

Just out of curiosity, why use the VF motors for this? Stepper motors and controllers are plentiful and way cheaper than the VF stuff. More accurate and trouble free as well. Is there some unseen advantage to using the VF motor?

Because I have them, because they come with gears and ways to mount them on rods, because the receiver is Bluetooth (easy integration) and I can start/stop (incl. ramp) my RED and because I can extend the system for FIZ control too.

Same here... Last time I spoke to curt was about 2-3 weeks ago. At that time, he announced to me that a firmware upgrade for the impero would come soon (10 days he said)...

Still waiting...
