Brigham, we can forget to get $ back. The only way is to wait for FF anyway...I´m waiting since nearly 2 Years (April)...cost me the rest of my youth...this will be a old man´s FF...if ever...

So is this really the situation?
if some of you have given deposits and not had emails returned for weeks and been waiting up to 2 YEARS then i really think viewfactor needs to show a little respect and honor these early adopters, then move on to dslr cages and FF development.

If this thread really reflects the reality and people gave deposits and are not being communicated with or updated then im disappointed.
Hopefully ive not got the wrong end of the stick as their gear, design and thinking seem really top notch so would love to hear any information to the contrary.

Well, it's a really weird situation...

Some people say that weeks are passing without getting any reply to their messages and some others manage to get in contact with them instantly! I recently emailed them with some questions on delivery dates and got a reply the next day. Does that make me one of the lucky ones? I don't know.

One thing is for sure though... No matter how much people are trying to make this very thread the official ViewFactor communication forum, it ain't gonna happen.

1,5 years wait here and one email as proof of payment shortly after ordering.
This is crazy.
No matter how good the product will be (will there ever be a product?), I have spent twice the price on rentals so far. Could have bought a different brand by now, stupid me, why didn´t I?
Apart from technical issues, I suspect we are looking at some condition here, else there would be communication, announcements, updates and such.
I am reluctant to give up hope, but save for a delivered product in my hands, I am not going to believe any more stories why it is not ready ...

Tell me this isnt so. Is this really the situation? then I must say this is pretty poor show on VF's part.

Most of us, like myself, have paid in FULL well back in 2008. There's no communication from them and many calls and emails with no replies. His primary method of communication is/was through this forum as he doesn't touch his own on his website. And there had only been ONE official email to customers back last year in march...a year ago! It's a terrible situation and it looks very grim. There have been a few units getting out over the last 3-4 months but barely a handfull, and quite a number of issues as well. It seems that lately a few untis have great reports but i think he made some big blunders and only a few of the actual units he has made will work so the rest of us are done. It's quite obvious this is the case. He is still about but has obviously decided to blow everyone off and no-one really knows what is going on. Occasionally someone says they contacted him and they get the usual 'couple of weeks' that he has told everyone about 50 times over the last two years. Who really knows what is going on. He may be a great guy and very smart and all of that but he has treated paid in full customers with very little regard or respect and has used our money as a way for him to have a go in the industry. All i ever asked from him is communication but he can't and won't even deliver that. Bloody piss poor.
If i didn't have a shoot on all of April and i was still planning on going to NAB i would be camping on his doorstep making pretty hard bloody demands.
Personally, i think my $ are gone and if i ever get a FF there is no way i could ever rely on any kind of technical support or replacement units.

I have had my follow focus for about six months. I bought it second hand from someone in Israel. Since having the motor upgraded and the hand unit tweeked a bit by Curt the device has worked very well. Turns tough lenses with ease. The next time I have the thing on a Red Zoom I will make a video of it turning. I love it and can't wait for all of the features to be turned on.

I personally don't expect any information over the web in a forum for anything. Unless it's a review from other users of a particular device. I prefer to speak to someone. I don't like automated call centers either. But thats me.

Every time I have called Viewfactor if no one answers I wait a bit then call back. Everyone eats lunch, goes to the bathroom, or walks outside for some air. Especially when they are working like crazy. I think I can say for sure that Curt is there working pretty hard. I hope he doesn't mind me saying, but he has a cot to sleep on under his desk. No one that is working day and night to keep his company running is going to skip out on a product. Especially one that has potential for all of you to love. Be sure of that! I personally respect what he is doing. If you have ever tried to design something and build it from scratch you would understand. As well as run a business on top of that.
I think there have been some setbacks for Viewfactor as a company which have slowed the process of these things getting out. Shortly that will be remedied.

There hasn't been a time I have called that I wasn't satisfied with the result.
I have personally had a very good customer service from Curt and all at Viewfactor. So just give him a call. If you don't get through try again. If you live in a different country download Skype and set an alarm for when the joint opens in LA. Skype is easy and cheap.

I personally believe that Curt and Viewfactor are a good company with lots of great ideas.

Have a little more patients and you guys will be happy.

Joshua,

"Have a little more patients and you guys will be happy."

Comments like this are really fucking offensive to people who have waited two years for a product. We have endured continuous broken promises and missed deadlines, read the almost 3000 posts.

On top of that, I suspect that VF is shipping units out of order, to cater to all the squeaky wheels out there, rather that honour deals with customers who left him be to sort things out, while their money funded his R&D.

You're smarter than all of us, by buying a working unit 2nd hand, I am so envious. But you have come in to the VF quandary late in the day. Defending Curt is fine, I would have done it myself up until the 18 month mark, but you have to accept that your point of view might be different as YOU have your product.

Please show some consideration to those that don't.

Wow. Well I wasn't going for offensive.

I recognize what it is to wait for something. I just wanted to let people know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and the guy that's driving the train isn't sleeping but rather furiously shoveling coal into the furnace.

Cheers,
Josh

6209$, paid April 28, 2008... last e-mail I've got from VF was send March 23, 2009.

And they don't reply to my e-mails too.

Paid full in April 2008 for two motrs and one remote.

In August 2008 got numbers with last email from VF:
"Inclino Serial # (s) 85,86
Impero Serial # (s) 69"

Looks very bad from our side.
One and half year no communication from VF.

Asked for refund few months ago - no answer, as usual.

I'm pretty sure Curt is a nice guy and great engineer and blah blah blah.. but man, 2 damn years!
No apologies, no information, nothing...

What was promised as a delivery date when you guys paid in full? Was their anything in writing at that time?

Also what happens when you ring them? If I'd spent that kind of money and not had emails returned I'd be picking up the phone.

Jason,

It seems a bit complicated to sue VF from overseas (Estonia in my case).
I think that about the same sum will be paid to lawers and no refund still quaranteed.

I made my wire transfer on the positive wave that Red One is not a bluff and did really ship at this time. When I made the deposite for Red nobody didn't have the camera yet. But in April 08 they shipped and changed the world quite lot.

Lessons learnt. Hard way.

Still hoping to have my Inclino/Impero some day.

Priit

PS. Or may be in US it is possible to collect the "unfilled promises" and sue collectivelly VF?

Paid in full April of 08 after waiting for nearly a year and a half, I asked for a refund
received refund 5 months after request for such. Took many phone calls
