  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

VFS Inclino, Imperio, Origo News ??

Exact same story for me, too, Larry. I really like the trigger and the visible battery indicator, but beeping during takes is obviously unacceptable. If there's a way to kill the beeper, I'd be very happy.

Curt?

Stephen

From what I can tell so far, it looks like Build 20 has solved the problem. I have used the Origo on a couple of shoots now without any random beeps. Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

To mute Origo simply press the small black button in the upper righthand corner. Once on, once off.

Tried that about a thousand times. But in B17, it would beep randomly no matter what you did. Except unplug it and put it back in the case. That stopped it.

It seems to be working like it is supposed to on B20.

I have a package arriving Tuesday according to Fedex. And it is moving, so it's not some pretend label that was never processed. I'll update when it arrives.

For mounting, I was thinking of using ET quickclamp for receiver box and Zacuto Zandy with Zicro mount for the Impero.

May I ask what serial or order number you have?

I'm very anxious to hear how performance (torque) of everyone else's motors are - so please share. I was going to set up a performance test between different systems, but quickly learned that mine can't pull focus on something as simple as an Ultraprime. The motor just isn't strong enough. Most of the time it will calibrate the lens but as soon as I pull just a little too fast the motor will lock up and I have to restart the system. I sure hope I will be getting a new motor or else this system is totally worthless.

Yippeah.....

Tony,
sounds like you have a motor that
that did not upgrade properly.
Untill Curt reworked our first set of three
motors the second time none of them seemed to have enough torque to properly move the focus
ring on the 18-85. As the motors callibrated they just needed a little help to completely finish the cycle.

Since the set came back a few days ago
100% better. The motors have plenty
of torque and are much quieter. AND
the thing we noticed is how Much MORE
responsive the system is, it reacts
instantly. This is a major improvement over the
first two versions we received from VF
so it sounds like Curt needs to go over
that motor again.

Another note, I have read people
talking about expensive mounting
options for the reciever , I myself bought
a speedy clamp. The best way to mount
the reciever it seems is just to put 2- 1/4-20
screws on a red side handle . Clean
sturdy, and a creates a good place
to wrangle all your cables. Leave the original
Allen on the bottom of the side handle
and a mostercine quickkey on top.
Just pop on, tighten top key, done

Thanks for the feedback, Frank. Curt did tell me (over a week ago) that he would replace the motor but since then I haven't heard a thing. I'm also still waiting for the additional two motors and a case. Can you tell me if you're experiencing any of the random "pulsating" moves in the motors? Don't get me wrong - the motor seems to be pretty accurate but every once in a while it feels like its moving slower and then skips into the correct position. I'm doubting it is something you can see visually, but it will drive any pro focus puller mad.

Hey Tony,
No I have not experienced this. Since
I am a DP ( came through the lighting dept)
I don't think I am the best to judge the
system critically as there is a good chance I
might not be as sensitive to the little nuances
that focus pullers make there living by.
That being said I am going to take
the system to a local rental house for
some feedback. At least 2-3 of the best
local guys I know will be there and they
are unbias to the VF. One of the guys
owns his own Preston system so it
should be informative and the rental house
uses the arri lens control system
I will tell them about your observations and
we will try
to duplicate your situation... I'll get back
later.

Just wanted to chime in to say Curt was first rate in dealing with my stripped clamp thread issue. I received an RMA# one hour after emailing him about it, then sent Priority overnight (on his dime) on Thurs afternoon and already received my fixed motor this morning.

Just getting back after Yesterdays check out. We were not able to duplicate the problem you are having Tony. Sounds like something isn't talking to the other properly.
Every comment was the same, system is very easy to calibrate , very responsive and
all in all they were impressed. The impero itself raised a few eyebrows has to how durable the plastic will be to and the lack of a three knob unit. I explained the pro version is in the works. All in all a very positive response and then I told them the price and they said i was lying! . Sorry to hear of your problems Tony, it took two tries to get it right for us as well but once its all operating correctly it seems light-years ahead of our first non antenna impero/ first generation inclino

Hi Curt,
Thanks for the answer! I was on holiday I read it but I could't post an answer.
Could you please send me a tracking number? I wold like to receive my Impero this week...

Hey all, I wanted give a quick update on things... Our lease was up at our old location so we took the opportunity to get more room at the same monthly rate just up the street. We now have about 600 more square feet and insulation in the work area (it was getting a little toasty in the old place at 95 deg.) We have everything here and are getting organized to resume sending units out towards the end of the week.
