I just recieved my Tracking numbers for shipping, so the Inclino and Imperos are starting to go out the door of Viewfactor. Its due Monday and I will let you all know how it goes. I am in the first ten orders (just so you know the shipping progress)

The long wait seems to be over so I would like to thank Curt and all at Viewfactor for all their hard work producing the follow focus !

Cheers, Tim.

I'm in the first 5 and have received nothing (emails & PMs went unanswered). Next week makes 1 1/2 years since I've paid in full.

If anyone's at VF is listening, I think I've earned the right to know what's going on with my order.

I'm in the first 3 and haven't heard anything yet either. So I called them up yesterday, and said that it would ship yesterday [don't think it did], or today [have my hopes up!].

Zack & Brian, yours are going out Monday. We had a mix up and I apologize. We are ramping up and getting these out asap guys.

any love for what I thought was a high number at 12?

Paul, your in the next ones to go out next week as well. We'll send emails to those receiving shipments to verify addresses and orders etc. I gotta go back out to the shop so no more reduser today :)

I think you may have sent your order 15th of september 2008, and your are order #8 that day.

Just a guess, I have asked Curt the same a long time a go (no answer; surprise?)

Does that mean I am #158?

You will have to contact ViewFactor to know your place in line. Their last update on this was from August 13, 2008 in the forum on their site. You reference your place in line by the last 4 digits of your order number. FWIW, your order number appears to be quite a bit higher than what is on their list from that time. And the #'s or places in line went up to 240. It's hard to tell just what that means though as the places in line at the time were based off Inclino motors, which appears to still dictate shipment as they get motors assembled. Scrolling through those lists, it looks like motors average out to 2.5 per customer. So at the time, there were probably 110 people in line or so, I'm sure some have canceled since.

Ok, this was 3 days ago... is someone receiving anything?
I suppose to be number #91 (at least in the VFS forum), my paid order will be 16 months old next sunday...
I hope all this wait will pay back, I still didn't read any review from a pro-focus puller testing it with Arri/Cooke primes, these are my clients and I'm still not sure that VFS make them happy. An hard independent test by some old school Hollywood 1st AC may be will help me waiting more confident.
If it exist and I miss it, please repost a link!
Here a link to our REDone test. Sorry it's in Spanish because I don't have a thousand € for a professional translation but I think that explain what I mean with "test", 30 pages of pics, charts, diagrams, ect.
Impero/Inclino are not complex as a camera, I don't need 30 pages but either a video with no lens and no camera is enough.
Anyway Tony thanks a lot I love it!

But I still hope to receive the motor I've paid soon, be happy and pay other 2!

Come on Curt, make it real!

Hi Carlo,

My unit has arrived. I haven't had a lot of time to test yet as I have a big shoot on at the moment, but my first impressions of the impero/inclino are good.

Cheers,
Tim.

That will be a tough test. Don't get me wrong, but the Impero/Inclino setup is not exactly an Arri "style" setup. The current version of the Impero is lacking a lot of the features that pro focus pullers want in a remote unit, so until the Impero Pro is out (whenever that might happen) no fair comparison can be done. I'm hoping the Impero Pro will be all aluminum and have simple features like hard stops, integrated light, better hand grip and a better battery solution than the current one. I also can't see any way of not putting a small monitor on the unit if it's features are to be user friendly and easy accessible.

The current Impero is great value for money and it will get the job done but it just isn't able to compete with top-of-the-line Arri systems.

I'm looking forward to see how many features Curt will be able to put into the unit before he has to move on to making new stuff. There's great potential in this system - no doubt about it - but the real question is how long we have to wait to see it.

Hi Tony, thanks for the answer.
I know that Impero/Inclino is not like the last Arri, I'm also waiting for the Pro model. My dubs and questions are about the simple focus pull, about the "feeling" of pulling focus with it.
Half of the time I rent a wireless system is just for a few takes in a long day or to give zoom control to the director while the AC is pulling by hand (sounds strange? Come to Spain...)
I need a stable system for simple jobs but I need that give the right feel to a bunch of very good old school focus pullers...
They don't really like the very used Skorpios/Bartech exists in Spain rental houses, but to let me rent VFS stuff it have to work just fine.
Anyway, I don't give it up know and I hope to have it in my hands soon.

I spoke with CVB this Spring/Summer about the Impero Pro controller. He said that it would really be a whole other level of product and would be priced accordingly: somewhere around what the Inclino/Impero base level kit is (i.e., $2500+). He also said that the Inclino's new cycloidal drive was basically the Inclino Pro and folks were essentially getting a motor upgrade for free (time delays notwithstanding).

Sounds like the Impero will be sufficient for most of the jobs you normally hire other systems for. In terms of ergonomics I could have wished for a better overall fit, but it's really not too shabby. It's not exactly made for small hands, but it does have a threaded hole on the back so I guess you could make a new handle and screw that on the back if you're a DIY person (this is something I'm looking into doing myself). One thing on the pleasant side is that it's quite a bit lighter than other units on the market; some might find that to be a negative thing, though. Also - I miss the possibility of having a lanyard on the thing to carry it around my neck or hang it off of a monitor stand while on a break. That is something I hope to include in the handle I'm planning to make.
