  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Got my VF FF yesterday!

So far I've just used it with my Birger mount. So far, I'm really impressed. The focusing is smooth and repeatable. Still need to hook up the Inclino and see how it goes. Just wanted to give a quick comment to let people know the units are coming!

The motor I used was running slow off D-tap power, not Aux. Maybe that's a firmware update that has it draw more power and makes it able to do a rack focus. Can anyone here who has a new unit say that they can do a rack focus with no catch up time from the motor?

Just posted on the Birger thread about the "Birger" Imperos:

Unless you're making all Imperos the same can you make sure "Birger-ised" Imperos are clearly identifiable in some way so that they can't possibly be mixed up with non-Birgerised ones. I can see myself and other Birger owners buying and reselling Imperos for controlling Inclinos in the future having problems if there's a difference in function but no obvious outer identification.

got mine too but when I entered it in FedEx web site it appears that there is only a tracking but the package is going no where!!!!!

Yeah, I got a FedEx shipping notice early Monday morning, saying that it would arrive today, Wednesday. It did not arrive, and FedEx shows it hasn't been picked up from Viewfactor yet. Welcome to the club. :-)

Guys, We were ready to ship some units then I did the last checks before packaging and found that the motors were a little louder than I like. I hope you guys dont get too upset with me but I really don't want to send out something that is sub-par that is just going to get sent back after you power it up. I'll let you know what the autopsy shows on these units later this evening or tomorrow. We are doing the best we can.

So what is the deal? Why mailing someone a shipment notifiation when there is no shipment?

Thanks for the communication, Curt. I know how things go with shipping, where you send the info to FedEx early in the day in anticipation of sending something out, and then discover something's not right. It's a bit of an unintentional tease for the customer, but hey, we've come this far. :) I agree with you; if it ain't right, it shouldn't go out.

Good move Curt. I am glad you are keeping up the standards. I know people are going to complain about waiting, but I think you needed to do that final QC.
 
We just received confirmation that our unit has shipped.. no tracking number yet though.

I hate to ask but I'm in an urgent situation. What's going on? When are we going to get this product in our hands? Last minute noise problems? Shouldn't these problems be resolved with prototypes? Obviously, I would like to obtain a perfectly functioning product but this is no way to run a business. I made a full deposit last summer thinking that I would receive the product within couple of weeks. The antenna problem, casing problem, bluetooth problem, power problem, and now this noise problem...? Usually people announce and start charging customers money when they actually have a working product in their hands. I know we've all been waiting for over a year for this product but these guys always have a new excuse whenever it seems it is finally ready. I know I will be a happy customer when I receive the unit but I must say if I had known last summer that it will take a year to receive this product, I would never have made the deposit. This type of business method is simply not acceptable.

He clearly said that *some* units had a noise problem and the autopsy would show why. He didn't say he will redisign the damn thing!! They have already started shipping the other noise free units...

patience people... I mean, you are waiting for so many months! Don't get crazy the last days! :laugh:
 
Curt is trying very hard. He called me clear out of the blue yesterday to let me know that they were going to try and get my unit shipped back out to me Monday and to send them the motor I kept so they could see about getting the noise down. I know it's frustrating. But, it was also frustrating getting a unit that didn't really work all that great. Currently being patient.

The cost of that unit would be miles a part. I'm sure that we by now unfortunately will never get a chance like this again except for with RED. I'm not blaming anyone but the unfortunate inexpereince and lack of understanding in what this little venture would mean from our side, has probably scared possible new venturers away. I'm pretty sure Curt won't do it again and that of course means a higher price on his next product.

Curt and the guys took a risk in doing this and still are. It's a shame that most people were not prepared for this. I was. I somewhat new that it would take longer. I didn't expect it to be this long, but then again... I rather wait and get a product that's EXTREMELY good for it's price. Then one that is more or less what it should cost.
