  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So I hate to ask this, but about 6 months ago you had told me that the Pro version of the Inclino was about 6 months away and that you had hoped to debut it at NAB (2009). I know that you haven't even gotten the initial orders filled yet, but what are your plans for the Pro controller?

Looking forward to this. Thanks
Working on it... I'm trying to get these units shipping on a constant schedule and then cranking on finishing up the new stuff. I have a number fo sketches and rough cad models as well as all the components picked out though. Probably a couple solid months of work to get it in some peoples hands.

While were at it, how about the Mirus?
Curran, working on that as well. I need to finalize the new control board that has the revised moco PCBAs that are the same as the inclinos. The mechanical design is locked down and will not change.

I don't want to hijack the VFS thread so we'll start up another one about the Arri lens controller.

"woohoo I just got my tracking number!!"
"Yeah, me too. It looks like Wednesday is the day of fulfillment . . . . "

May I ask what order # you guys are? I was the 4th person to plunk down a deposit for this setup and have not heard a single thing from VF since March.

CURT???

Curran, working on that as well.

Good. I'm still interested in #10.

May I ask what order # you guys are?

I am #20 and don't have a tracking number either. But I did get an email to confirm my shipping address and was told it will probably ship on Thursday!

When I looked up my serial number, I was #16 in line. I also paid in full last year before NAB.

So I've got one Impero and one Inclino that should be shipping out very soon. What kind of cables should I order? Primarily just using this for wireless FF. Would like to have a hardwire option just in case. Do both units need power? Thanks.

Hey this is a good sign, people who aren't under "hush hush" getting shipping numbers!

Perhaps we have gone from beta testers to production?

Oh Man sure I hope so!!!!!!!!!!!! Good show Curt!

I have been promised that mine will be shipping today. I am #7. Though still no tracking numbers :)

Cheers, Tim.

Curt,
You talked a little about the motors in your update, but there were some things that were unclear. Are all the motors being replaced? I found the first run to be very noisy. Also, is the speed of the motors a hardware limitation or a firmware one? Will the new units be able to rack focus quickly?

The motor speed was limited in the first run, because of RED power limitation.
Most people will want to run their motors under the D-tap power which will let you run the motors at a healthy and fast speed.

I am very happy with my motors and am even more excited the future possibilities that are open with just simple firmware upgrades.

Ohh and the case that included in some orders is just bad ass.

ohh one more thing, the units ship with a nubby short range antenna thats going over 100ft in range for us. But we soon found out that by adding a simple Wifi router antenna which uses the same type of mount lets us extend the range to some ridiculous ranges with only a $5 part....

Nice info, which part please ? Would you have a link ?

Cheers,
Damien

Sorry about the lack of order on these... we were originally trying to keep as many local guys on the first round now we're going back and fulfilling thing in the order they were received. The original motors are about the same noise level as the new ones... we picked out the rotors that were in the specs we were looking for so there is no substantial difference. What we did change is the speed limitation... Since we had the thing with the aux ports on the camera we are very dis-interested in powering off that port. We are only going to support running the motors off of the DTAP and using the Red cable (now renamed the aux cable) to get the GPIO data for the trigger and tally.

Hi Curt,

What do you guestimate the ship timeframe would be if one were to order a FF system now?

Not sure about Bluetooth, but be careful about substituting just any old antenna. In some RF transmitters, a mismatched antenna can damage your transmitter by reflecting transmitter power back into the output electronics, unless it's specifically designed to avoid damage. Even then this is usually done by throttling output power, so negates the point of changing an antenna. Obviously, Curt link is probably Ok!
