A little comment from the VF lads would be nice about this. After all the setbacks, this is a pretty significant one. It looks as though it may not entirely be VF's problem, but has anyone actually got one working through the DTAP or is this just all theory?

I have a strong feeling they're programming etc 24/7 and literally don't have time for this forum right now.

Just received mine… not working with the red cable as expected, I'll try to rush to a friend who has a Dtap cable, would be nice to know at least if this will workout, my job starts at 8am tuesday :)

has RED had anything to say about this and they trying to help VF resolve any of this?
we know RED relies on third party vendors to properly operate their gear (ET and all of the contributions they have made comes to mind) so why aren't they chiming in on this. We have to be able to operate motors ,rain deflectors, stabilizers without a breakout box that is half of the size of the camera. I'm sure this will be resolved but it would nice to hear what red is thinking maybe they have a fix in the works

And I think they're working 24/7 on Scarlet, Epic and the RED Pro Primes AHAHHAHAHA

quote of the day...hehe

i would prefer to work the next 12 months like this and have red pro primes and an epic without design mistakes....jim and co are learning fast

Looks great. . . which I had it. . . RIGHT NOW.

:-(

How are we Nikon users going to deal with the calibration of lenses that don't have hard stops?

Curt great video!

Ahh!, maybe I assumed we could power the motor and reciever just from the camera. In Curt's video he is using the Dtap for power and an additional cable to the Red for record/stop and tally functionality.

You can, he's just got to reprogram the firmware to lower the motor power draw so it will work off the camera.

It's pretty cool you can fix that kind of problem with a software update. Looks like there's a little light at the end of the tunnel though - I bet they'll be shipping the first 30 units soon.

Wow, I haven't stopped into this thread for a few days... I was always under the impression that that DTap cable was needed. Looks like that is the case, so I'm not sure about the confusion here. But it would be nice to see some clarification from ViewFactor. If the DTap cable is necessary, I wonder why they sent out kits without it? Then again, if firmware can fix it and eliminate the need for the DTap cable, that's great too! I'm all for less cables hanging off my camera all the time.

The kit looks good in that video. I can't wait to get mine, with the proper antenna installed, that is... Hopefully by the end of the month. I have a job the second week of May that could really use this. And I'd hate having to rent a BarTech ...again.

Looks like they just posted a walkthrough on Youtube:

That's a sweet video! Great to see it in full action, wired and wireless. Curt and VF gang, I know you're going at full steam, so I appreciate your efforts are really look forward to getting our unit. We'll just have to wait till things are actively shipping, and hopefully, in order of those who ordered the units. Are you all going to be at NAB?

Yeah, but all of this port power things are so worrying *sigh*

Sure, the power seems to be a minor issue, Rivai, but that's not nearly so worrying as NOT having a unit to actually worry about not getting power.

If that makes any sense.

:-)

Okay, so I talked to Curt this morning about the whole power issue. He said that the RED power port has been a big pain in the butt. If he programs the motor to use just enough current to power the motor but not overload the port, the motor is really sluggish and not crisp like it should be. His solution is to send out a DTap cable with every order. So, if you want remote start/stop, you will have to have an extra cable attached to the camera, but it's the best/quickest solution.

I should be getting my missing parts and the extra cable in the morning so I can prep for my shoot on Wednesday.

BTW, the finish on the Inclino is very nice. I wish the finish were black to match the RED, but everything about it looks and feels like a really high end product. Can't wait for them to release the zoom control!

Great to know... Thanks for the report on the specifics. :)
