I'm supposed to receive mine on monday with a shoot starting on tuesday and I haven't order a DTap cable…
I suppose I can already start looking for another rental.

Yes, UPS reschedules all the time. It has nothing to do with Viewfactor.

Since I will be powering from my own battery, I am not so worried about the issue with the RED port. But, I still need to know which wire (color) goes to + and which goes to -. Or perhaps Curt built in a circuit that accepts both or one that simply does nothing if the wrong polarity is applied.

I have to say though, that by looking at Tony's little film it seems to me that it looks (IMHO) remarkable well built? Maybe you guys can answer this, but I was worried that the Impero would be a little "plastic"? That seems not to be the case?

The receiver and Impero are both plastic, but feel pretty solid. If you drop them on the hard ground, I might be a little worried. I need to figure out a way to attach a lanyard to the Impero so I can hang it around my neck. The only real option is to go to Lowes and get some kinda of screw that I can put in the back bolt hole.

The only complaint I would have about the "feeling" of the Impero is that there not a really great place to grab it. The Auto 1 & 2 buttons are right in the way of my thumb and index finger. Of course, I have large hands, so that may be more of the issue.

The grease/friction idea actually worked very well. When I first turned it, it was very hard to turn-although some of that had to do that it was probably at <50 degrees. But as I have been playing with it, I actually like that. You are not going to accidentally bump your mark and when you do need to make a quick turn with it, it seems to move VERY fast. It's like the faster you turn it, the less the grease slows it down. Basically, it's exponentially easier to turn the wheel the faster you get going. But once you stop, it gets stiffer again immediately.

Hi Emmanuel,

need assistence soldering a DTAP cable ;) ?

It would be nice to hear something official from View Factor about the missing Imperos and Inclinos (those of us who have asked for early units) and the issues a few folks are having with their non-working pre-production units.

Stephen

As others have noted - this problem some are having seems to be remedied with a firmware update that the Viewfactor guys are currently working on. My DTAP cable hasn't arrived yet, but I'm trying to get one made so I can test that out. I'm sure the Curt will fix this as quickly as possible and would like to offer my apologies for being a tad too quick to cry wolf :)

I agree, I have given the VF boys alot of slack in the development of the product, but shipping to customers is kinda of a no brainer.

customer apology?

customer apology?

Let me ge this straight- You pay for something a year in advance have it shipped across the ocean- DOA- and you want to apologize?
This crowd is dream come through customers.
BTW- I have a broken Yugo to sell- any takers?- and I'll accept apologies with the payment...(joke!!!!!)

Well, technically isn't this RED's fault? If each RED is not putting out the same amount of power on the accessories port, and the motor works on the RED curt is testing with...sn't that RED's fault for not having better QC? I'm really not trying to blame anyone. I just want to get the missing parts in and my Impero motor working.

I thought RED simply passed power through on those ports. Whatever the battery gives is what the port is supposed to send. I don't get how a dTap would help since it's going to do the same thing.

That's because the DTap doesn't go through the camera. It's on the side of the battery plate and therefore avoids going through the camera. Where as with the accessory ports, those go through the camera. I would stick my meter on the pins to see how much voltage is coming through, but the lemo connectors are so small, that I can't get my meter leads down in there to test.

Wow Jacek,

I seem to recall Curt giving you a nice little endorsement for your LCD Finder solution.

Is this how you repay everyone who supports you?

i did change my order to dtap...and its sixty or somethin dollar more expensive.

but i am not going to pay for it hopefully.

this is the least what i can expect from a company i helped by paying FULL in advance,

I haven't been following this thread since last year and just checked the Viewfactor website to see if things were shipping.

Is it just me, or is this now quite a bit more expensive?

$2,696.00 for a 1-motor package? I seem to recall a 1-motor package being < $2000

I am simply apologizing for not giving Curt enough time to respond to me before posting this on Reduser. Anyway - it appears this is not a hardware, but a software problem.

I metered them when I made a cable a while back. Same voltage as I recall. I'm still guessing the pins simply pass through raw battery power. I'm pretty sure the manual has that information but I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

The RED ops guide clearly states that max. sustained current draw is 1.5 Amp per output and that it's protected. It means that if you draw more then the RED ONE will de-activate the output and you need to power cycle the camera to re-activate the ports.
