  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

They emailed 3.5 weeks to get latest parts on 23 March...so in all reality and experience i would be EXTREMELY surprised to see them out to customers before the end of April. I have given up thinking when i think i may get one, it's kinda now just a 'when it gets here it gets here'. I have no doubt i will get it and it will be a great unit but these guys are making them from scratch and it's their first go at it so it's a ride for us all.

I´ll second that, but it would be a great help to get some realistic schedule now. Not in terms of exact date, but the month. Would help me a lot for planning some future shots.
Thanks,
Marc

I'm trying to hold out for the final version w/ antenna... But if I don't have mine by April 10, then I too will have to rent something... again...

I talked to Curt on the phone a little while ago and he said they were going to ship out units to people like me who want them already. Just gotta get the shipping upgraded now to get it in time for Monday.

Matthew

I need mine by Friday! I'm gonna have to call to upgrade my shipping too....

what exactly makes people like you who want them already different from the rest of us?

He wants to pay the extra shipping costs of returning the FF in exchange for the final version when it becomes available. He will end up paying 3x shipping costs to get an unfinished version now. But it is cheaper than renting.

oh, i see.
actually, i asked for the same thing.
with no answer, at the moment.

Hey guys, forgive my ignorance- as I just watched Jay's vid for the Birger- he was demonstrating the VF system. As I understand it, if you buy additional Inclinos they can control the iris and focus, but he skipped the zoom button. Is the Inclino not strong enough for control of the zoom?

The Inclino doesn't come with a Birger mount which is why Jay skipped it. If you buy an Inclino it should handle a zoom lens just fine. You might need a separate receiver for the Inclino, I'm not sure.

Oh, I see- I did not understand that he was using just the Impero alone. That is sahhwheet! So, perhaps then, you would only need just 1 Inclino if you are using certain Canon lenses. -if you don't need a separate receiver for zoom. But, if I am using my Red 18-50- I will need 3 Inclinos to control everything, right?

Right... controlling everything on a PL lens will require 3 Inclinos.

I imagine the Birger "might" be able to be used as the receiver for an Inclino. The Birger has 2 unused ports. If so, you'd get wireless Focus, Iris & Zoom with only 1 Inclino motor. That's pretty f'n cool. Yeah - if it works that's a bit of a game changer because the rig is quicker, lighter, less complicated and much cheaper than anything out there now. AND has lens metadata. My VFX friends are already drooling.
