Just thought I would chime in. We are still here. Have 200 motors assembled. We have been testing durability of the electronics and drivetrain for the past week i.e. running a motor with a four pound weight hanging from kevlar string 24/7. It's a bit toasty as one would expect but so far no hiccups. Only downtime was changing the string that broke.

stop this BS.... john... your stories are old...
ask Curt... he promised to have my unit at march 21st
you guyz are clown... playing with your stories....
we need shipping dates only...
Story tellers....

Why bother him when he's actually posting updates? Isn't that what you're screaming about getting all the time? Why ask for shipping dates when they don't know them? Isn't that the problem all along? That they can't keep them? So why bother?

Don't you get it. This is harder then they or you could imagine and one problem leads to another. Next time they'll be a lot more experienced but this is the first time. Meanwhile go and buy the ARRI or C-Motion that you claim that you have to get. The VF money is petty cash when compared , so why not, if you can afford it? And/ or take the dollars back - they're worth more now anyway, especially if you buy in the UK.

Now I have done exactly this, but I'm still getting my VF.

I must admit that I too, always had the impression that the reciever was in the motor.
Actually I dont think it was ever mentioned.

It's been mentioned many times and there's been pictures of it from more or less the start.

I understand being frustrated...

It is clear that VF is working on this and having challenges getting it finalized and delivered.

As a result of waiting on the Birger/Impero delivery schedule I can understand being frustrated, disappointed..etc.

But I find this kind of post unnecessary.

No disrespect meant to you Kwan, and believe me when I say I understand the need to vent sometimes, but could you make your point in a more constructive manner? :)

Sorry Guys... I was upset unexpectedly....
Am I wrong to get upset about this? Hummm
I should've calm myself down ....it just happens naturally

John and All... please accept my humblest apologies...
Lets take some time to develop a new interest...

TO VFs ... Keep the good works in effect, because you all are definitely making a difference
TO Mr. Weird... what's the best way to ignore your Question and coment:cool::cool: Just a joke...

Thank you !!! for the update.

We are bearing with you, really. I speak for myself but for many others, I know.

Some people are getting way too impatient, and saying silly things, please please don't let their sillyness reach you.

All this hard work, your precious time, the hurdles you keep hitting, and which you struggle to overcome. Please KNOW we feel for you, for your efforts... You're nearly there.

I wait patiently, in full confidence you will deliver.

I cheer you on,
Damien

Finally!!! An Official Email from Viewfactor

Finally!!! An Official Email from Viewfactor

We would first like to thank you for your order and extreme patience with the process of getting the Impero and Inclino Digital Follow Focus to market. We would also like to let you know that your wait is nearly over. You may or may not know we had a few production problems over the last few months, some of the problems could have been foreseen whereas others could not. We would like to give you a run down of whats happening and what we are doing to get these problems resolved.

The Impero remote consists of a controller and a receiver. The receiver sits on the camera and connects to a battery and the Inclino(s). The controller is what you hold to remotely control the Inclino motors. Inside these two devices is a small radio transceiver that allows the data to be transferred from the controller to the receiver. We originally were using a radio that had published specs of 100 meters open-air wireless range, 100 kBps of bandwidth, and very low power consumption. These are impressive numbers that lead us to test and eventually buy 500 units for our initial production run. After we received production units and started the builds we found that the radio did not live up to its published specs, in fact the range was closer to 30 meters and the bandwidth was closer to 60 kBps. Upon learning this we decided that it was in our customers best interest to move to another technology in order to increase the range and communications bandwidth. The decision we made was to use Bluetooth. This had a few benefits, mainly a true open-air range of 300 ft, very low power consumption and extremely high bandwidth. After tooling circuit board adapters for the bluetooth modules and trying them in our system we found that the orientation of the antenna was handicapping the potential of the radio and limiting the range to only 30ft. This was unacceptable in some of our customers eyes so we decided to design and build three more plastics tools (at significant cost) to allow us to mount an external antenna. Upon prototyping and experimenting with the new design we found that the range significantly increased to a range of over 150 feet.

This is where we stand today... We have a design that we know will work and we have all the components necessary to ship all the orders with the exception of these three new plastic parts for the external antenna. We have decided to offer you a couple options with this new delay in mind.

Option 1: We ship you the existing design with limited <30ft range and internal antenna. This would not be field upgradeable and would require the unit to be shipped back to View Factor in California to get upgraded to the final design when the parts become available 3.5 weeks from now. We will ask that you cover the shipping if you choose this option as we are a small company and really cannot afford to pay for shipping both ways for hundreds of customers.

Option 2: Wait until the parts arrive 3.5 weeks from now and we can ship a complete unit with the external antenna and extended 150ft range. We admit that this is not the most attractive option and realize that you have waited a long time but we hope that you can hang on just a bit longer. When the antenna parts arrive we will push all of the orders out over the course of a week.

The choice is yours but we certainly hope you will wait for the full assembly with external antenna. We are still working as fast as possible to make a great product that will stand the test of time and reliably operate with daily use for years to come. If you do choose to accept early delivery please send us an email at info@viewfactor.net with your Name, Order Number, and current shipping address. Please keep in mind that we will be requesting that you return your unit to us for the upgrade and shipping will be covered by you. Also, please note that effective Jan. 1st 2009 our pricing increased. All new orders will follow the current pricing as reflected on the View Factor store.

In order to get some additional feedback on the Imperos and Inclinos we have decided to ship the first 30 orders this week without the external antennas. These are essentially advanced pilot build units off the assembly line and we are using this opportunity to verify that our production units are functioning correctly and that all bugs in the final firmware have been worked out. If you are in the first 30 you will receive an email in the next couple days with tracking numbers (if not received already). When the new antenna parts arrive we will send replacement units and have the original short range units shipped back at our expense.

Once again, thank you for being our customer and holding on a bit longer. We will send out status updates via email as often as possible and will notify you when your order is close to shipping for address confirmation. Surprised and happy that I got mail ...
Good Work

Come on guys it's Kwan, where have u been for the last 1000+ posts. He always gets all, what's the word...... vocal?
HAHAHAHA

I might. I am torn about getting it now, so that I can learn how to use it, albeit with limited range, versus waiting for the full range version - but getting just a day or two before my next shoot (which would leave me and my crew almost no time to test it).

Still waiting for the manual or a how to video to be posted.

When do you pull focus 150ft away from camera? Not every day - I think I will go for delivery of the 30ft range unit.

Don't be foolish I can tell you that you will regret it 50% of the time it's out, if not more.

Edit: Or your AC will and he will want to kill you hahaha

the absolute need for 150 range

the absolute need for 150 range

I too am wondering when was the last time I needed to pull focus from the next block away in the last 30 years. I have been at this that long, and in deference to the other knowledgeable and experienced operators I would love to hear about a real world situation when they or I or my assistant would need to do this. Even on my triangle jib I would have my focus puller standing right next to me. That's 30 feet from the motor at most. Someone please enlighten me. If it works reliably in line of sight for 30-50 feet I would probably be happy I think. Am I wrong here?

That is if you are doing crane work 50% of the time, on huge cranes that is...Or a lot of action work with car to car and cams in crashboxes.
Otherwise you will be fine 95% of the time.
This is only true if the range is really 30ft in line of sight;-).

Ok so do you want yours with 30ft limit - it can be arranged ?
