The controller uses zigbee which uses much less power than bluetooth. Our transceivers draw about 2mW vs. Bluetooth which draws close to 50mW. We could easily make a replacement module for the controller so that it can use bluetooth though (the transceiver is removable).

Curt, what about the hard wired knobs you used to have? The wireless one is cool, and all, but I'm fine with a wire to save some $$.

The same knob works both wired with the bus cable available from his Store or wireless. Not sure if he will discount if you leave out the wireless receiver though as it's not an option in his Store!

My Origo was serial number 131.

mine is No 89. I was supposed to be the first of the new batch, 89- onwards, and have received nothing...paid my money up front for everything the inclinio etc...lots of promises...no Origo...no replies to emails...to be honest it gets tedious after a while, spending time sorting through sent emails making sure it's not me losing my marbles.

Curt i am going to do it again and use the forum to contact you as i get no replies using coventional email. Where is no 89 ?...is it personal??

I know that there have been delays but Curt has always kept everyone up to date with a status report on the Viewfactor Forum. I received a FED EX tracking number from them last Thursday that actually tracks a package.

Here's his last update:

I want you all to know that we are working as hard as possible to get all teh issues resolved and have units shipping as soon as humanly possible. I am the only person doing the engineering/manufacturing work at the moment and we are very short staffed. I'm working 18 hour days 7 days a week until these ship. I also have two other engineers (electrical $ mechanical) tackling Mirus and getting it out the door asap. We are taking significant steps to reduce our exposure with external vendors and are getting the equipment we need to do as much in-house as possible.

Bob, we had problems with our USPS shipping software. We ended up sending out most of the FedEx and UPS packages before we finally got it resolved. Your Origo went out on Friday. I apologize but like I said before we get so many emails that I sometimes have to decide between putting time into the product development or answering emails - in fact I was just replying to your email from an hour ago. John will be full time in a week or so to take care of the customer service and get faster replies to you all.

I am just a bit fed up...no news is well..no news. I followed the sticky for shipping dates but my kit just wasn't get sent out when others was. USPS? $108.00 to ship USPS?
Whats up with fedex? USPS is probably the slowest service in the world to the UK, i will probably see it in about 3 weeks, If i'm lucky. Parcel force - the company this end who deal with USPS shipments - are about as much use as a wheel on the end of a walking stick also.

Sorry to be down on you guys...

On yesterdays shoot I was using origo while powering the camera from the AC power supply. The red voltage indicator flashed continuously. Is this normal? On/off Switch worked fine.

Bob, I'm sorry we shipped via USPS, its what you selected when you placed your order. We have FedEx and UPS as alternate shipping options for future reference.

Tubular... the flashing means that the voltage has dropped below 12.5 volts (the point where the red camera starts its shutdown process when running batteries). When you run on the DC power supply it runs at 12V and as such the blinking kicks right in.

At least VF knows how to communicate. If you really want to get a headache, try sending two thousand dollars to this guy, it's fun:

I'll remember not to do that.. .VF are great guys, it's just a few teething problems..early days. As with everything communication is always key. I'm a happy bunny really, i am just trying to plan jobs around certain bits of kit, Origo would be real useful at moment.

Thank you for the update. Remember to update your "Status on all Products" page ( http://viewfactor.net/forum/index.php?topic=57.msg341#msg341 ), is still says Inclinos and Imperos are shiping out on the 19th.

If anything, that is the page you should remember to update. It will avoid a great number of e-mails. I've written a couple myself, thinking if you were close enough to the 19th, I might still be able to get it on time for a shoot on the 27th. Now I know it won't happen, and I can concentrate on finding another solution.

Cheers,
Damien

YAY, I got mine and a 30' cable yesterday! This thing kicks ass. Nice work Curt!
