Curt, do they know the seriousness of their delay ? Tell them this is not a pause and continue game

I gues everyone does not read... I said we have enough to cover almost all but maybe 20-30 units at the tail end. I did not say we were slipping schedule due to this plating. I only wanted to let people know what was going on. We have already contacted our supplier and are working to make sure we get the bad units replaced so we have stock in teh next few weeks to finish off all the new orders.

I just need the equipment to work!!! It could be pea green and I wouldn't care. I have no more faith that these units will be shipped in 2 weeks or two months. This has certainly taught me a lesson. I'll never pay full price for anyhting that isn't ready.

This is crazy!!!

Anyone who thinks that this is acceptable should never run a business.
Lee, as we have stated in the past you can get a refund at any time. If you are upset with us and how long it is taking then thats all I can offer to you other than just wait a little longer until we get these shipping. I hope you dont think I am intentionally taking my time just to piss everyone off... this is not easy stuff, I have written over 200 pages of code for the Impero and the Inclino is equally as complicated. I will not put 100% into every aspect of the design just to give up in the last few minutes and ship a piece of junk.

Ahhh, now looking back at the older posts, it connects. Not having all of the info in one post made it confusing. So pretty much the main thing you have left to do is soldier the bluetooth in, correct? So, you are hoping that you will have pretty much the first 200 orders shipped within two weeks? Or are you thinking more like 3 weeks?

Matthew

Shipping address? Don't worry... You've got plenty of time for it rory...LOL
Just jokin'

I certainly feel like my frustration is justified and if coating is going to slow down the long awaited process, I'll forgive the coating just to have this as a working tool rather than an idea. I'm not interested in a refund, but much more interested in getting the product that I paid for in June of 08, it is now 9 months later. Is that an unrealistic request?

Hang in there Curt & VF. Thanks for all the updates. I can't wait to get this product! I know it's going to be rock solid when it does arrive.

Bluetooth modules arrived this afternoon. We are soldering up the modules and putting together the receiver units. I'll update tomorrow and give qtys that will be going out on Monday/Tuesday and the rest of the week. One other thing... we got plastics for the remaining 150 Imperos on Thursday and it looks like they botched the front covers - warped badly. This happened once before and it turned out to be a process issue on their IM machine. I contacted them and they are going to have replacements to us by Wednesday - which is when we would probably be getting to them anyway. I am feeling really good about how things are going, I love it when the last roadblocks are overcome and things are on the brink of hitting the FedEx truck. I'll keep you all updated.

Thanks Curt, btw. could you take a look at the email i sent you couple days ago.

thanks
Manuel

Amazing Curt -- you seem to be living Ketch's Chronicles of Persistence... I for one have find myself empathetic and immersed in your frustrations -- and my own pale into nothing...

Every time I use this tool I'll be thinking of how you hung in there despite it all -- a nice talisman reminding me of your integrity, your hard work, your gracious acceptance of various outbursts of frustration from a few parties. A bonus of great value, easily worth the long wait.

Thanks again.

So i know this is just yet another when...........but in all honesty and reality considering the recent problems, do you think VFS will have all backorders cleared by the end of March?

Now for an update.... the new BT radios came in yesterday. We assembled about 60 units and have some findings to report. The range of the radios in open air (ie, no enclosure, PCB, hands, bodies, cars, walls, large trees, 1 meter thick concrete walls etc) is documented to be 100 meters... which we did verify. The problem is that it is not realistic to get that performance once things are packaged up and held in you hand or on a camera. After we put everything together we have found that the actual range is around 50-60 feet for reliable operation. There are ways to increase the range, namely throttling back on the refresh rate of the motor positioning. We are also experimenting with a couple tweaks to the Bluetooth carrier boards which seem to help quite a bit with the range.... it turns out that cutting away the FR4 pcb material with a laser and removing the material underneath the antenna helped quite a bit. I am going to keep messing around with some other options through the night but maybe you guys can weigh in on your thoughts as to if we should ship with the 50-60' operating range.

Done.

Yes, we are doing 30 units in the next couple days. The assembly of these is getting very easy now that we've done around 100 Inclinos and a couple dozen Imperos. Assuming we get the plastic for the front cover of the Imperos on Wednesday then we want to get at least 15-20 units per day assembled and out the door. That will clear the backlog by around the 20th or sooner.

50feet is probably more than enough for steadicam and crane work. I don't know about other people, but I'm fine with that spec. I'll rather have the units quickly because I have a movie shoot coming late March...

So, to sum it up, the maximum range of the Impero is in the 50-60 feet range in open air?
Is there a fast cheap and easy solution to improve this?
What about the performance indoor?

Thanks for this update, Curt.
