Your clamp does not support the vf reciever in both 2 holes.

That's true...

Maybe I could make one with both parts. Constantine's support bracket machined and attached to a speedy clamp. That would be ideal...

To those interested first bunch of brackets for the VF-reciever will be ready at the end of January and can be delivered in between 1st and 10 of february.
please specify color when you order.
You can buy now by Paypal through my webstore
Thanks

Hey

Not posted on this thread before, but i have however been following it for a long time now. I ordered my system back in September last year and i just got my hands on it today!

First impressions are that its made to a very high standard and the motor works fine wireless and wired. The only thing is there is a slight noise from the motor when its waiting, its not loud at all but i know some of you guys have had problems with them.

I know its hard to say how loud it is on a forum but any advice would be great!

I have also taken some photos of the rig.

Cheers,

Nic

September last year!
Man I have been waiting for over 2 years... what the hell is going on ViewFactor!!!

Perhaps they're still shipping those original 30 orders that were done out of sequence? Or maybe they're clearing up the single-motor orders first so they can clear out a larger chunk of the backlog faster? :emote_headwall::emote_headwall::emote_headwall:

That's it; I've had it. I have held my tongue for way too long. I ordered on the first day it was possible; I ordered one motor and the controller, and both numbers are in the mid-20's. What the hell is going on here? Is there no concept of time and order in this sick alternate reality?

This practice of fulfilling orders way out of sequence simply will not stand. I put up with broken promise after broken promise because I understand the difficulties of getting a product to market. What I don't understand and will not accept is this blatant disregard of customers. I paid in full up front, almost two years ago.

Curt, rectify this situation. Ship to customers in order from here forward, as you promised. Notify me of when I can expect to get mine and keep to it, or I will cancel. And yes, this is the proper place to make this statement and demand.

Conspiracy theorists... I leave you to your machinations.
;)

What does that have to do with it? How does VF know what cameras I plan to use the system with? Would I get it faster if I called up Curt to tell him my 7D needs a wireless FF yesterday? [I realize you are most likely joking.]

I've been content with waiting, probably more so than I should. But conspiracy or not, the yin and yang don't match up when some guy comes onto the forum to say he ordered about 4 months ago and just got his. Even if he slipped up in his post and meant that he ordered in september of '08, that still doesn't add up because many of us ordered long before that.

We know there was a snafu with the orders and the first 30 or so units were shipped out to people who were not first on the list. But I thought that was over and done with. Really, the only logical explanation I see here is that they have a stock of Impero controllers sitting there and can only build motors so fast. So they're filling the orders for single-motor kits first as that would probably clear a significant portion of their backlog.

If that's the case, I don't know if it's really the right thing to do, but it does have a certain sense about it. I realize I'm stabbing in the dark here.

The only problem with your theory is that my very early order is with a single motor.

It's funny (not really) that we are relegated to theories in trying to understand our predicament. And to think I used to pity the poor bastards on the Birger forum. Wait, I was one of those too, but cancelled when my lens strategy changed because of the wait.

Guys just to let you know that the system i have is a loaner system and is not the finished motor. I am still waiting for the new model to be shipped.

I wouldn't give up on Kurt and his team yet as the system is impeccable...

A loaner system is a bit better to know final units are not shipping out of order... But then again, how did you get a loaner with all the other people on the wait list. Lucky guy. :biggrin5:

Not ready to give up. I still have complete faith in Curt to deliver this system. It's just another case of us not knowing what is going on.

We're working on it guys. The housing situation is looking much better, i was able to find a way to tweak the internal motor retainer to use otherwise bad housings... that means we have more good housings to work with. Parts are due in on Friday and we will commence with shipping the RMAs early next week. Sorry we slipped on the dates. We spent a little longer on machining the parts than expected but there are 100 sets of parts at the plating shop right now.

Exactly the same problem here. I posted before about it. But there seem to be users who don't have this problem at all.

I sent Curt a video showing my problem. I'm still waiting for a response...

EDIT: Ok, just got a response. They're aware of the problem and they will issue an RMA for noisy motors.

Not mocking your Canon glass at all, but try the motor on a real cine lens that has a more "sticky" focus and try doing a fast pull. None of the 7 motors I've been sent have been able to cope with the torque that is needed on something as simple as an Ultra Prime. Tried them on an older Super Speed the other day... and it completely gave up on me just trying to calibrate the lens at room temperature. Same problem with my RPPs when I was outdoors at 0º C. If you have the budget for it then go for Master Primes that have butter smooth focus, but then again ... if you have the budget for MPs then you might as well get the C-Motion, Preston or Arri.

I'm going to bring all of my motors with me to LA for the RED Day and I'm hoping Curt will be able to fix them all.

PS: Got the wireless to work. I have no idea why or how - but at first it didn't work and now it just works. Spooky.
