I'm making a motion control rig with the motors and a Glidetrack-like setup. I'm developing an app to control thing too and I'll post more when there's something to post :-)

Interesting, I look forward to seeing some pix!

Goog luck with all that.
Best,
Rich

That could be cool!

Good Idea Tony.
I will try same. I Have EZFX JIB and Indie Dolly, I will be using EZFX JIB (as Slider) and Indie Dolly's Wheels on It (Perfect fit on EZ-JIB).
may use OPEN END Toothed BELT ROLLS

Good Luck

Hopefully the Red Electronic lenses and Touch Focus system works so well that I won't even need a FF.

I'm making a motion control rig with the motors and a Glidetrack-like setup.

I want a system like that too except I'm going to wait for Curt's. It will be a much needed addition to the pan/tilt axis of the Mirus moco head.

I went with an endless turning wheel because of the other features that have yet to be introduced. We are going to have a skater-dolly type system as well as a pan/tilt system that will be able to be controlled by Impero. If the knob only had one turn then moving a dolly 5-10 feet would be very difficult as the movement would be very jerky.

Maybe time to start a new thread?

Good idea. I will start a new thread once I get my order.

3 days ago Curt posted on Twitter that 250 sets of parts went to plating and that this should cover the last of the outstanding orders.

This thread is coming to an end very soon....

Just got mine yesterday, a 1 motor kit. Bought it from a former owner who no longer needed it. From what I reckon so far, it looks really good and sturdy. Will give it a try and post feedback soon.

Anyone has a good idea/system/bracket to mount the receiver on the Red1?

Hello Lewis. I make a bracket that you can mount the VF reciever to one of the top , or even bottom 19mm rods of the R1 in any possition you like.
if you look at my photos on my website you will see the way I have mount mine with a similar brack, its not the actuall one I sell but you will get the picture how and where to mount.
The new brack has 2 taps , one 1/4 one 3/8 and and screws you can mount the reciever through its internal holes on the bracket.
The price is 75 euro its made or anodized black 6061 T6 aluminum and I can anodize it to red or blue if required.
Its a no tool grip mount .
Let me know if you are interested, or anyone else/Iam currently making a few of them together with my new systems, they will be ready at the end of january.
About the VF system, I have also decided to keep mine, keep waiting for the motor upgrade.
Thanks

If yo want something cheap and works okay then a Bogen/Manfrotto Nano Clamp is great. If you want a great clamp that is perfectly sized and takes little space on the camera, then the Element Technica Speedy Clamp is the one for you.

Abel sells both.

Mounting the reciever with one 1/4 screw will not do the trick Iam afraid.
The reason is because the reciever is light as feathure, and plastic with 2 holes that you cant really screw something very tide in case you crack the plastic.
Thats why I made this T-shape 19mm clamp bracket which doesnt stick out like the above sugestions, it weights 50grms , and you can mount the reciever with 2 screws on it but with rubber flanges, and also a rubber back to not damage the case.
Very different from the speedy clamps way cheaper, and made for the exact application.
No tools thumb screw tidening, and secure mounting with out damage of your reciever in both 2 points so no cable forcing rotations of the reciever.

Constantine,

Nothing aganst our bracket and I'm sure it works just fine. But all one needs to do is a awave washer or a rubber washer and then either the Nano lamp or the Speedy Clamp would work perfectly. More versatility in where they could mount as well. Looks like one has to pull the rod in order to mount/dismount your bracket rather than slip the clamps on and off at any time.

True, although I like the T-thing, really adapted for the receiver, I think a mix of Constantine's and ET's speedy clamp would be it!

Getting there...

Hello Mitch, all you need is to have the rod of your choice sticking out 10mm.
Thats all it takes.
One thing I have found annoing so I made this brack was the fact that if you screw it with one screw , the cables that attach to the reciever being 10x times heavier than the reciever keep forcing the reciever some times to rotate.
To my application, and steadicam aplication that moving parts are not a good thing this bracket is the solution. But in other applications as well me personally do not like moving parts.
You dont need to to what you mention above all you do is have one rod sticking out 10mm. thats all it takes.
Your clamp is very nice but heavier , takes more space, and does not support the vf reciever in both 2 holes.
