  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

V-mount Battery Chart

Some of the V-Mount batteries are wider than others leaving not enough space to clear the right side of the module, thus not being able to properly connect.

Damn, thanks for this info, that's a hell of a design oversight.

Very comprehensive chart, and clearly a ton of work. Thanks for posting! I'd be interested in seeing the regular PAG v-mount factored in (not the Slim 90 model). If the numbers are close to the Slim 90, you can see that the PAG is really on top in terms of size + weight + Wh... of course where it loses overall is that PAG knows to charge a premium for it. But ultimately, space is space. If I only have a few cases for gear, bringing 6 PAGs in the space of 4 others is a 50% increase in battery power and could be the difference between having power to shoot or not.

FYI received the Bebob 98s and have been testing them out. I get almost exactly 98 minutes of run time (60W power draw) from a Raven with the 4.7" monitor and v-mount expander attached. It's consistent whether shooting RAW, ProRes or RAW+ProRes.

I'm impressed by the Bebob's. Nice and small, lightweight. Great for the price.

Does anyone have experience with the new IDX batteries? IDX announced the Duo-C series, they have a 93Wh and a 183Wh version. They look to be light weigh and low profile. BTW that's a great chart for reference, thanks.

Joshua, the XL battery module is actually a charger too and is probably on par with the travel charger in terms of time it takes to charge a battery.

Yeah I know -- it actually occurred to me to just get an extra module to use as a charger. But at twice the price for half the charging bays, it's hard to justify just on weight savings.

I wonder: if I get a spare AC adapter, would I be able to charge a battery on the XL module while I was operating the camera plugged in to the wall?

Seems like it mightn't be TOO much trouble to sell the XL module minus the stuff that makes it a module for half the cost or less? If there was enough demand. Of course, I'm not an engineer...

Wow, thanks for taking the time to put this together, so helpful! I'd +1 adding a column for whether a battery passes % info to Red or voltage only

I've added a column for % info and filled in what I know off-hand. Feel free to add if you have these batteries or have a minute to check the links in the spreadsheet.

I love my Bebobs as well. Such nice batteries for a good price. Trevor, have you thought about the Bebob V150s as they are the lightest 150wh I could find. A bit heavier than the V98s, but last considerably longer and you can probably carry 1 less battery. I guess if you fly a lot the V98 are easier for TSA.

Aside from being "Dumb" / voltage only, the main drawback to Bebobs is ordering from Europe which kinds of sucks. Costed an extra $150 for shipping and custom fees and PayPal gives you a rip-off Dollar / Euro exchange rate. But the batteries are great, the chargers are cheap and great, so overall a good deal.

Shipping from Bebob was included for me. I stuck with the '98s because I'm constantly flying with my kit. 150's would be fine, but I'm also trying to get the absolute lightest possible gear for schlepping it around.

Very good chart! I never bought a battery, but want to buy one or two as personal backup. I've mainly used on sets: GMP(under different names)/ SWIT/ Blueshape/Anton Bauer and I honestly don't see much difference between all of them, all good batteries.

I think if looking at prices the SWIT is actually the best bang for the buck, great batteries, 2 years warranty, small, inexpensive. I really like the 2 part models they make, very good for flying! Not sure how to edit the chart but could someone please edit the SWIT S-8152S 73 + 73Wh in? it's 146W split into two, it's 1.1KG which is pretty light, and dimensions according to BandH should fit DSMC2 just fine: 16.8 x 9.3 x 6.5 cm . it also got a D-TAP which is helpful. Price is only $340, which isn't bad I think.

I'm sure there more good models to add!

This is great, thanks for posting!

Anyone have any experience with the Switronix Hypercore Prime batteries? I fly a lot with my gear so I need something TSA-ready but also would like longer run-times. Switronix posted recently that the Prime's give a full readout on the DSMC2 bodies. Seems like an interesting solution.

Hey, Brendan - yes, I'm using the Hypercore Primes 190WH on my Scarlet-W. Had no problems during flights since they're splittable and it's cool to have a USB-Port and a P-Tap included. The LED display is a nice gadget - but as they're communicating with the RED body I haven't seen myself taking a look at it but it's great for charging the batteries / checking the runtime when they're not on the camera.

Def check out the normal Hypercores as well - they look heavy but they're pretty lightweight indeed.

Thanks Gerrit! I actually have 4 XP-90's that I use for director's monitor and some litepanels. Been comparing different configurations and I just keep landing back on the Hypercore RED 98wh's. Good to know the Primes are working for you! Also a wee bit jealous you've got the S-W in hand haha. Thanks again!

My Dynacore minis finally arrived. As well as their charger. Fit the Weapon really well. I got the 155W.

Hi Bob, the Dynocores look cool. I could not find them on their website. How much are they? And the charger cost?
