It looks like they have removed the accessory credit for upgrades to MG so you would be paying $14,000 for the upgrade with no extra accessories

Ya gotta read the fine print. "[SUP]4[/SUP]WEAPON Magnesium Upgrade Package deposits placed before November 16, 2015 are eligible to receive the $5,000 USD Accessory Credit."

So if you order an upgrade starting today, you won't get the credit.

Okay, the updates for RED.com are going to start rolling out now. Some key points:

* WEAPON Mg Upgrade Package is now $29,500. A $5000 reduction from $34,500. If your order is already in, you don't have to do a thing. You get the price decrease plus the $5000 accessory credit.

* If you order as of right now, you get the $5000 price decrease. However, there will not be a $5000 accessory credit for orders placed after I hit "submit" on this post. We wanted a little way to show our appreciation for the folks who placed leap of faith orders up till now for Mg upgrades. But, I assume no one is going to be upset of cash in hand, right?

* Yes, once we go live with reservations for WEAPON Mg new camera orders, the price will be $29,500.

Awww. And I was just waiting for the new pricing to put in my order. To see if it was $3.000 or $5.000. But loosing the accessory credit really hurts. Since I have to get new mini-mags as well as a new 7 inch screen. With the horrible exchange rate right now it's just what pushes me back to not being able to afford it. Dang. I think I read on a previous post that you would give a little heads up before removing the accessory credit. But I must have dreamt it. hehe I wish you had given just one day grace period. No hard feelings, just a little shocked. Got my hopes up this weekend.

2) Any chance new customers can get the Weapon MG around March when the Raven comes out?

I pre-ordered a Raven, but the $5K price drop is pushing me to Weapon MG. Cry now, smile later.

Well looking back it certainly seem that way. hehe Like I said -no hard feelings and it's a totally understandable decision of course. Just my financial situation wouldn't allow for an extra $5000 with the exchange rate being the worst it's been in 15 years. And since I also upgraded to Dragon this year. Oh well. Next time I'll read a little more between the lines. Any chance I can trade in my Scarlet MX #35 brain for an accessory credit? It barely has 20 hours on it.

I went from considering it with the price drop, back to not upgrading with the lost accessory credit. Wish I could've jumped on that.

Any idea when new weapon mg's will be shipping? I tried to look but couldn't find. Currently on an epic mx and would love to sell and purchase an mg instead of an epic dragon, especially with the lowered price of the mg

What an incredible new price point for the Magnesium Weapon! What other company drops the price of a product AFTER many people have already committed to a higher price point (with their deposits)? Incredible. From engineering & development, to customer service, the UPGRADE PROGRAM, listening to feedback & implementing it into their products... I am so glad to be a part of this ride.

Everyone had plenty of time to take advantage of the generous $5K accessory credit since NAB (7 months?) so it's completely understandable it eventually came to an end. With the new price reduction, it seems like the credit is still in place, but applied immediately to the purchase price. I remember people asking for this very thing right after NAB (if that makes any sense).

I'm really looking forward to taking delivery of my CF Weapon upgrade (regretting not doing Forged), and 8K when it's ready. I've had the pleasure of working with a weapon several times (thanks to Chris Probst) and it is certainly an improvement in literally every possible way. I've had very little to complain about when it comes to my Epic, but I'll be surprised if I can find anything that could use improvement with CF weapon (alright maybe a 12v lens mount for my Cabrio, but that’s it!). I'm also fine with Red taking their time with 8K. Sure, it's always exciting to get a spec bump, but 6K Dragon still blows away the competition in my opinion.

After Jarred post I was really happy to be able to consider upgrading again so I submitted my order as soon as I came back home, then I checked on RU and I see this news...

mmm so I cannot upgrade it again...

essentially losing the accessory credit makes the upgrade costs the same as before since it needs minimags and such to make it work but now with alu internal parts instead of magnesium???

I was ecstatic to have a chance to be on the weapon wagon again but now I have to let it go unfortunately.

I think that users that already had the money and pre-ordered at the original price are absolutely loving the fact and really rewarded for their leap of faith, having the price reduced "after the fact" it's a nice gift to receive!

But this strategy hurts all the other Dragon users which, as me, were on the fence trying to gather funds all this time, and seen the light when a price reduction was announced...

I believe Weapon is the upgrade path for DSMCv1 Dragon cameras. RED follows a tick/tock strategy. New body, then new sensor. R1 M, R1 MX. Epic MX, EPIC D. Weapon D, and then in a few years there will be a sensor upgrade for DSMC^2 cameras (Weapon body).

Alexander, for new camera purchases, yes, it was supposed to, but we extended for a certain period of time so people could make more informed decisions after letting it marinate...
