  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Update......

Even though Mg is not currently in my plans... thanks to Jarred and Brent for bringing this discussion to the table and asking for feedback.
 
This is also a confirmation that I'm not completely insane for checking Jarred or Brent's recent posts a few times per day. They are bookmarked on my favorites. Imagine if there was a physical line to wait in on product launch day like Apple... You'd need a SWAT team... or maybe just a BOMB SQUAD. Ah I am so lame. Thanks again and goodnight.

I believe the Red EPIC Dragon cameras are eligible for a sensor upgrade as well. When the new generation of RED sensors arrive.

I saw it a few times but can't find the posts/threads.

You don't have to upgrade to Weapon to get the new sensor - whenever that happens.
 
One thing is for sure, I'm glad I upgraded to dragon before NAB.. That was the key.. And my bomb squad rep was the one who re assured me I was doing the right thing by upgrading at the time, makes me trust them a whole lot. The future is very exciting, and it's gonna be so rad to see these weapons out in the feild. A close friend of mine who I work with often will have his soon.. Jelous, yet totally stoked at the same time!!
 
Hi Jarred or Brent,

I kinda forget what I made deposits for although I'm sure I have a couple 8K's and a few MG weapons. I'm also not too sure if I'm all up to date on what you guys have changed and if I should do something to take advantage of your offerings. Should I shoot an e-mail to my bomb squad every now and then to make sure I don't miss out on any of your bonuses along the way or can I expect e-mail updates from my bomb squad everytime there's something important happens.
 
Nook, any thing special gets posted here in recon so you should be all set. Since you have Mg orders in, you get this price break automatically!
 
Hi Brent

Since I might switch from the Raven to Weapon (huge jump in cash), I really like the DSMC² Base I/O V-Lock Expander that comes with the Raven because it has the built in V-Mount plate. Any chance I can purchase that for the Weapon on it's own? Any idea of the cost?

Also, will there be any Weapon MG bundles to save a few bucks?
 
I'm really confused by all this. The magnesium has been reduced in price by $5000? But by getting it you loose the $5000 credit you get for accessories because you upgraded to Dragon before April 13th?

What exactly am I paying for now and what is the deadline? I have a Red Epic-X Dragon paid and upgraded before April 13th that already has the minimag on it. What exactly is the cost, deadline and plan if I'm going to the Magnesium? Is it $5000 cheaper because of cheaper manufacture and I still get the $5000 accessory discount promised?
 
Oh my, just made the deposit for my EPIC Dragon to MG Weapon update - couldn't resist the price reduction and still getting a store credit for accessories - guess I need to trade in my 1,8" mag's for the mini mag's too.. Thanks RED/Jarred/Brent - u guy's rocks.!!!!

What? I was just at a camera event where I specifically asked if my pre-april13th upgrade will cover my $5000 accessory credit without an end date and now it's gone.
The timeframe for these kind of things are way too short. I didn't even had time reading up on this and now it's changed and set.

So now, we have a reduced price of $5000 but I've lost my accessory credit that was promised just a week ago?

Yeah, but I don't have an unlimited cash supply so the point of my question at the event was to ensure that I will have the accessory credit even if I upgrade a year from now. These kinds of things haven't even been sent out to my mail so all of a sudden I need to cash up within one day otherwise I loose the $5000 accessories reduction. Why didn't Dragon owners get an email about this thing? It's impossible to know about this when it's being drowned within a long forum thread here.

So what will happen is that if I pay a $5000 deposit now I will thenwait to the second quarter of 2016 to pay another $5000 in cash and get accessories for the rest ($5000) while sending in my Epic-X Dragon Brain? Is this correct?

You will pay the $5,000 deposit now and you will pay the rest when your upgrade time comes. You get the accessory credit after you have been invoiced and paid in full. The $5,000 price reduction has already been applied to the order page.

Fair point about an email being sent to exiting Dragon owners about changes.

But is this ending tonight or is tomorrow the last day? It's impossible to reach any Red reps in UK by email now :(

Hi! I'll try to clear things up.

The price of the MG Weapon has now dropped $5000 since they are using aluminum in some of the internal parts instead of Magnesium. Aluminum parts is a lot easier to make so they would save time by the switch. And by saving time they would save cost and get a quicker turnaround.

If you put your MG Weapon deposit in now. The price is $29.500 minus your trade in. I have an Epic Dragon that was upgraded before NAB so my trade in would be $15.500. The deposit is $5000 so the remaining cost is then (for me with my specific trade in) $9000. After I pay the $9000 (plus shipping I would imagine) and take delivery of my new Weapon camera I would get a $5000 accessory credit to use later. It's not deducted from the total.

To get the accessory credit you have to put your MG Weapon order in by end of day tomorrow November 18. EOD is at RED headquarters in Irvine as I understood it. Unsure if it's at midnight or when they go home for the day.

The $5K accessory credit goes away at the end of RED's business day tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov. 18)(Pacific Time). If you order between now and then you still get the accessory credit.
