  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

UFO over DENVER !!

The pushback against alien visitors isn't necessarily about whether or not other life exists... it's about having the means to travel the light years of distance necessary to get here from wherever. I'll remain agnostic until someone proves... not theorizes, how an alien ship can get here and back to there in my lifetime.

Right, but that's where the "we know a lot, but yet very little" part comes into play. We are going based off science that we have discovered, taught, and abide by. But it's not that much of a stretch to think that extraterrestrial civilizations could be more advanced, more knowledgeable of the universe, etc. It really does take freeing your mind of the known and imagining the unknown.

Having said that, it does take seeing to believe. And as of yet, I have not seen anything with my own eyes to prove the existence.

I think we have physical laws that have to be proven wrong before we can even "imagine" there are alien spacecraft hovering over Denver. I'm open to imagining things being different than what we have been led to believe is possible. But imagining worm holes between parallel universes makes for good movies, but it just doesn't equate on the physicists chalkboard. That said, threads like this one are still fun. '-)

Meryem, Steve, and Joe thanks for chiming in! I wish we had the ability to hit some "hot-spots" with REAL activity together. Like I said, I have been priveldged to be involved in some AMAZING investigations where we were privledged on several occassions to witness and experience true "UFO" activity. And as Joe mentioned, that does not automatically mean "Aliens". Thats not what we are studying here...but people make that assumption upfront and that way of thinking keeps them from delving in deeper. You have to peel the onion layer away little by little as objectively as possible.

But I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is some kind of "intelligence" behind this phenomena and it pre-dates our technology. The site we were investigating has been experiencing this kind of activity involving "light spheres" and many other types of Unconventional Flying Objects since before 1906. As I said before, for over a century and a half farmers often thought thieves were trespassing onto their property because they would occasionally encounter "Spheres of Light" that traveled across their field during daylight, evening, and night. Back then and even today, the most logical explanation is that someone has a lantern in hand and is trespassing on my property.

Mind you, this community of farming families has been in the business for a LONG TIME and if you know a farmer, they don't like people trespassing...even in the early days! So rifle in hand, this farmer(s) would immediately ride their horse toward the "lantern light" only to find out no one is actually carrying a lantern. In some instances the amber light sphere would wink out as the farmer approached, in other cases it would continue on its own path as the farmer watched, in other instances it would rise up higher into the sky, make right angle turns, fly into the gusty winds, and zoom away as fast as you can blink.

However, on one extremely rare occasion, one of these farmers was so heated and dumbfounded that he actually shot at the light. Now this isn't the first report of someone trying to shoot one of these objects, but it was the first time we had heard that one of the farmers actually fired at it and hit it. The farmer described in a newspaper article at the time (this was in the early 20th century around 1902 if my memory serves me correct) that he fired at the light and hit it causing the light to "shatter/ explode" into thousands of little amber lights...

Believe me when I tell you that this is not as simple as "Aliens." It is FAR more complicated than that! So when people get caught up and frustrated with trying to understand how an "Alien Craft" can possibly travel to earth, etc. etc.....all I can say is it is simply the wrong attitude to have.

In true science it is necessary to remove ALL preconceived notions & prejudices one may have, objectively observe and document the phenomena in question, gather all evidence and then begin to deduct from your findings. You may develop a theory along the way, and it may hold water, but the vast majority of the real good stuff is WAY too complicated to draw any major conclusions on. It is always about what it is not. And so far, a portion of this stuff consists of things we simply have no idea about.

As Tim mentioned, the light spectrum has a BIG role in all of this. I cant tell you exactly what that may be, but I can certainly tell you our limited perception of the entire light spectrum certainly limits us to seeing a specific portion which is known as the "visible spectrum." Beyond it there are a lot of phenomena we simply can not perceive with the human eye. Thats where technology can play a big role in all of this to help us observe where these things go when the simply "wink out". It could be that they alter their frequency to a wavelength that our eyes no longer percieve, but on occasion it "pops" into the visible spectrum for one reason or another.

Like I said, get ready to travel down the rabbit hole alone and without a damn flashlight! That is unless you have some serious funding ;)

Depends on the physicist.

Classical physics vs. this crazy wacky way of thinking known as Quantum Physics (which is the bee's knees by the way!) makes anything possible ;)

One upon a time we had a certain way of thinking, a paradigm that led us to believe with certainty that the Earth was at the center of the Universe. We would even burn people at the stake for challenging that way of thinking. We had another paradigm that taught us that the earth is flat, and at some point you will fall off it!

Simply put, it is WAY arrogant to think we have it all figured out. We have some stuff figured out, we know and understand the fundamental laws of physics but we are simply limited as well. The faster technology develops and the more we are able to push (hadron collider, etc. without obliterating ourselves of course! haha) we will continue to shed light on the unknown.

The friend thing was a joke, just in case a few people didn't catch that.

I trust too much in people :) Thursday would work best for me Meryem and Jeff and any other locals that want to trek out for a little shooting adventure on these otherwise on Tuesday I'd have to bring my little ones :)

Adam, I respectfully disagree that true science is about observation. True science is about proof. The Higgs Bosun has been theorized for a number of years now, but only recently did the Large Hadron Collider (possibly) prove the existence. I'm not saying something hasn't been observed over Demver, but just like the Marfa Lights have been observed for years and years, they still remain a mystery. Yet I don't think there is anything super natural at play. Too often we humans link things to dates like the Mayan calendar thing for example, but dates are man-made things. And if something is man-made, it automatically intrudes on a person's thinking that the date itself is significant. But a date is not a scientific thing. What I'm saying is, believing in UFO's with aliens aboard are akin to a religion... that is, taking on faith that what has been hypothesized is true and correct. It's not about having a closed mind. It is about being rational.

I agree with Elsie about the science but again we have a limited audio and visual range as humans... the laws of physics mainly apply to our planet and solar system
we know way too little about the rest... its all theory which seems to be constantly turned on it's head. Even recently Scientists are now questioning existing DarK Matter theories ... CLAIMING that there now may not be sub, sub-atomic particles... read: NO GOD PARTICLE

I like what Einstein said (paraphrased)

"Humankind's increase in knowledge in their lifetime is equivalent to that of a person, who upon wishing to get a better glimpse of the moon, decides to climb upon their rooftop to get a better glimpse of the luminary"

I think the hoaxes have really hurt the UFO phenomena. Every story you read, even this one admittedly, automatically brings a response of hoax. And it might be possible that there has never been an actual alien spacecraft spotted but merely just hoaxes, optical illusions, misidentified objects, other space phenomena, etc. It's possible that if there are visitations, they may be done in ways we can't even imagine, perhaps breaking all the rules of science as we know it. So, I've always remained openminded about this. There is nothing that has ever been shown with 100% certainty that our planet is being visited by others. But there have been some interesting cases. The hoaxes in particular create a lot of noise and ridicule and it's unfortunate because it should be a part of science taken very seriously because obviously the implications are huge if it ever presents itself.

Check out a search on Satellite images in space and UFO's, interesting footage you can find that might change your mind on evidence of visitations. I know a few people who had an encounter in 02 or 03 and one was a believer before and one was a total skeptic. The skeptic is not a skeptic anymore and still to this day does not like to look up in the sky for too long because the experience and this person I have known for most my life and they are not the type of person to be scared of much and this haunts them still.

Depends on the physicist. Classical physics vs. this crazy wacky faction known as Quantum Physics (which is the bees knees by the way!) makes almost anything possible ;) One upon a time we had a certain way of thinking, a paradigm that led us to believe with certainty that the Earth was at the center of the Universe....we had a paradigm that taught us the earth is flat and at some point you will fall off. Simply put, it is WAY arrogant to think we have it all figured out. We have some stuff figured out, but we are continuing to grow as a species and making progress all the time!
Yes, we were taught the earth was flat, until it was PROVEN to be wrong. And of course theories that exist today will be proven or.... disproven, over time.

in the meantime its FUN to speculate... which is all scientific theory is... one big educated (based on known criteria) guess ... :)

Imagine a civilization 1 billion years more advanced than us. It could be like us trying to communicate with bacteria...

I agree Tim. Actually, almost all my story ideas are either totally in the future or linked from the present into the future. Nothing wild and outrageously speculative though. Everything I write has to have some semblance of plausibility.

Exactly! I think we are on the same page for the most part ;)

Couldn't agree more!

awesome.. Im a huge sci fi fan - funny I thought you were a nature shooter with your Avatar. :)

Heh, heh... I do shoot nature as a hobby but that pic was of one of my nephews who plans to be a wildlife biologist, holding a gecko. I use it as an avatar because I like the color.

For the most part... I think you are right. I like the idea that you don't equate UFOs and aliens. And there's nothing wrong with trying to solve mysteries.

And keep in mind our real estate is not in the best location as far as intergalactic house hunting is concerned. We are out in the sticks, on a spiral arm, many many years away from the bright lights of downtown.

I think you are forgetting that Thursday is Thanksgiving, my friend! I will be eating turkey and contemplating the arrival of those "other" aliens, the Pilgrims, who landed here with their funny shoes, weird hats, and bizarre technology - who somehow implanted the thought ray into our brains that commemmorating their arrival with the slaughter and consumption of large birds was a good idea.

We're all aliens in our hearts.

Whoops swapped my weeks in my mind with the following week :)
