Hi all, apologies if this has been covered but I've been searching for a few days without success.

I'm trying to export half-float (16 bit) EXR's out of RedCineX (on a Mac) to composite in Nuke, but all are clipping at 1.

Inside RedCine-X the histogram shows all superwhites as clamped at 1 despite there being information in there, and switching to PDlog685 shows a hard clip @ 685.

Currently as a workaround we're dropping by 2 stops to be in range and then lifting it back up in Nuke, but since this supports floating EXR it seems an unnecessary step.

Anything obvious I'm missing?

Thanks!
John

John, make sure you're on latest RC-X for the EXR support. We've tested the EXRs in Nuke and we get no clipping and lots of values > 1.

In RC-X the histogram is the integer format / image path, so doesn't represent what an EXR will make. EXRs are always linear light too, so they don't, by their nature, honour any gamma curve selection.

Thanks for the quick reply Graeme. Apparently we were not running the latest build apparently, editorial is downloading and installing now. Hopefully that's the issue.

Cheers!

I think so - pm me if it doesn't work for you.
