Hi all,

Just received my DRAGON upgrade a few days ago, and before I am able to use it, I would like some help on getting the full breakdown about this REDMag to MiniMag trade in.

Here are my questions:

1. When I trade a RED Mag in, will the price of the MINI Mag be $950, or is it $950 OFF of the MiniMag 512 Price?

2. Would I be able to swap my RedMag side module in for a Mini-Mag Module to go along with the RedMag Trade IN?

Thanks.

You can order as much 512 as you want in one batch. Pay full price. For each 512 purchased you are allowed to send one 1.8 sized REDMAG you previously acquired from RED and you will get 950$ for each ssd credited back to your RED account.

1. It's $950 off the regular $2450 price of the MiniMag 512…so the 512 ends up costing you $1500

2. No, you will have to buy a MiniMag Side Module (you can sell your 1.8" Side Module to help cover part of the cost)

If you are going to upgrade to Weapon, RED will take the 1.8" side SSD module in trade.

It's actually a $950 credit into your account to be used towards purchasing something else. So yes, you get $950 off, however, you still need to pay for the mini mag at full price first. If you're buying 2 mini-mags and have the need for the mini mag ssd module, the $950x2 could be used to buy your mini mag module plus card reader. However, it's important to know you have to pay full price for the 512gb mini mag first at $2450.

If only anyone would buy it. The for sale section is flooded with these and no one bites...

Yeah, I assume the side SSDs will be tough to sell, because it's the only module you MUST have in order for your camera to work at all. So there won't be too many people around needing one because everybody has one for each camera already.

This is not completely accurate.
It is a refund. So you can decide wether you want it as RED store credit for future purchases, but you can also choose to have RED wire it back to your account.

So you can use it to reduce the price of the Minis. You just don't get it instantaneously but need to pay in full first and get the refund later just like you said.

Does anyone know if this offer has an expiration date? Or will it be an ongoing program for a while?

THANKS FOR THE CLARIFICATION! I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THIS. I WILL PROBABLY WAIT SOME TIME BEFORE I MAKE THIS MOVE.

Thanks All!

is the trade-in only valid for purchasing new 512Gb Mini Mags or can you get the 1Tb instead or any capacity for that matter?

At the time, it was just for the 512, nothing smaller. Of course, the 120's and 1 TBs didn't yet exist. AFAIK, nothing new has been said.

do they do student discounts on the mag trade in program? i been considering going back to school, what with the costs of getting a weapon lmfao...

I have some like new 512gb minimags for sale. If anyone is interested feel free to contact me.

Thanks

Has there been any update to this trade-in program? Can't find it anywhere on red.com

Just communicated with my bomb squad rep. The trade-in program is still going, same details. Buy 512s at regular price. For every SSD that was originally purchased by you directly from RED, you can send it in and get a credit back for $950 on a one for one basis.

Example: I have 4 SSDs (64G) originally purchased from RED. I can buy 4 x 512s and get credit back for up to 4 x $950. You obviously have to buy the mini-mag module and reader separately.

this is very good to know. Thanks Terry.

One thing to add, it's a 'once only' deal (unless things have changed?!). Basically, a single transaction (ie buy X5 mags and send back X5 old mags for the discount/trade in), so you can't spread the discount over a number of transactions.
