  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Trost Slider GROUP BUY - limited time

How is everyone liking the sliders?
I am totally liking the versatility...I am using a Scarlet and a F55, I have the Manfrotto ball adapter from a previous slider, but the fore and aft movement concerns me. Anyone having issues with how high the camera sits? I have a Sachtler 18SB head which already stands high. A 3 inch high hat spread across the sliding base might be cool. I FB'ed Bob and his Gitzo/Cinevate solution seems very cool.
Gabe, who has been very good about responding, mentioned removing the 18SB center screw, unfortunately that will not work for my situation. A 100mm riser spread across the base could possible work, not an engineer...maybe this is not necessary.
Thanks for even more opinions...

Still loving my dual setup. I use a set of Mitchell sticks and a Manfrotto monopod on one end for stability. The monopod has the tripod feet at the bottom and allows quick height adjustment. I don't mind the Manfrotto flat head to 100mm adapter but would love a more elegant solution and one that prevents twisting. My only real gripe is that with heavier loads the off-set slider has some fore/aft movement during "pushes and pulls" which can affect the shot. I've tried tightening the puck but I think the depth of the receiver is just not enough to counter the weight of the camera moving from one side to the other.

With some finesse though, you can get some amazing shots. Here we did the Philharmonic Orchestra live and even conducted some "hitchcock" type zooms/moves during certain poignant moments of the piece. Also, when doing delicate work like Live events, being able to tweak the frame with a fore/aft slider is very powerful. If I was stuck at a certain focal length I could make subtle adjustments to the frame just by sliding in and out. Also, the complexity of the moves with foreground elements really adds to your shooting.
Once a few of these new accessories arrive, I think the combo axis package is going to be really hard to beat.

Thank you , Peter!!!

We've been making a lot of progress on Mitchell mount options. We'll have an announcement related to this and other new features soon.

Thank you for making TROST the best slider for all cameras (and mounts)!

We cant use the workarounds for our F65 rig, but will wait with excitement for the news to come!

Cheers!

Is there any chance for a second group-buy? ;) I totally regret not having jumped in here...

Hi Maik, we're open to a second group buy if there is interest. This would happen later this summer, after we have units back in stock, and after we've made some new announcements.

Ooooh! Intriguing! This is interesting. I for one would love to hear more about that GB and your new announcements! :)

I wasn't part of the group buy but I did purchase a 100 x 50 Trost slider. Ordered on Tuesday arrived from USA to UK on Friday morning. Its a very nicely made piece of kit and works very well. The camera folk using this are going to have a good time with this slider.
