Searching for the best way of mounting the evf on the Epic.

I am having difficulties working out the bits I need for Red's own evf mounting solution. The Red Store has a bundle but I am not sure what else I need for it to work. So here are my questions: what pieces do I need? Are the available? How adjustable is it?

Many thanks

+1 on Wooden Camera

they're great and make cool stuff and are very responsive

Hope they manage to keep up the good work as the cameras keep rolling out!

I changed out for rubber washers on the Wooden Camera mount and now have a much sturdier lock. Overall, great design and value for money, and yes Ryan has been very response. I've been happy with all their products.

Thanks for the useful replies. What I like about the Wooden Camera solution is that it is simple and low profile. The solution is not overengineered.

I have concocted a way to use the sinner nicely using pieces from wooden camera and red, I will post the list of items when I get home this weekend.

Hey Tim, did you ever finish this setup? I think I have an idea of what you had in mind but I'd love to see your results.

This is my design Prototype, mount directly on DSMC Top Mount,
and it can slid in & out too... The arm can be extend longer like Extension View Finder...

I was going to use a bolt on 19mm rod attached to a 150mm wooden camera safety NATO, attached to the spinner. Then on the camera I was going to do a 19mm rod clamp from red I think, mounted either to the body or to another safety NATO rail. This would give almost as much flexibility as the ET mouth, but would be less bulky and could be positioned much closer to the camera body.

Not going to build it now as our needs have changed, but if someone else gives it a go I'd love to see it.

Tim

The wooden camera mount is great, will have them on all 4 of our Epics. The only thing I don't like about it is no spring-loaded adjustment levers (so you can't pull out and relocate the adjustment lever if you're in a tight spot)

This is more or less what I'm thinking, except using a 15mm rod and rod clamp, starting with pieces from Wooden Camera. I think it might be the least bulky of the quick release options out there..

Wooden camera mount is awesome.. Great customer service and the friggin thing works! Smaller orientalble knobs would be nice eventually, and I would be happy to pay!

Viewfactor and wooden camera rule!

Gini-rig & Zacuto

Gini-rig & Zacuto

Combo Gini-Rig Monitor arm and Zacuto Zandy 19/15mm. Locks rock solid and can move in seconds to anywhere on the camera. Same for the LCD. If you are 15mm rods he has a new version with the 15mm built-in or the old version comes with 15/15mm if you get a DSLR rig. Cheap and excellent quality -- just like me! Well cheap anyway.
