  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Trost Slider GROUP BUY - limited time

looks great.

I'll jump on with a 100mm with 2nd axis.

thanks, Erich

really good review! as said before - missing a motor...
and its funny you are using Kessler QR system :P. would love to see side by side with Kessler stuff.

Bob,

Great review!

As I consider, a question: Between 13:37 - 13:41 in the video, the slider is positioned vertically. Hands free, the camera is seen descending the rail. Was this accomplished with only the drag adjustment or is there something else at work here?

Hi Brian. Yes nothing fancy other than gravity and the drag knob.

Yep, that last shot is sick.
Great review Bob and thanks a lot for putting up this group-buy. My head is spinning now. :)

I'm glad you're all liking this slider. At this pace we should hit 15 units which essentially means for the price of the 100mm slider, you get the 50cm second axis for free! I love that it has unlimited warranty too. The collars are a smart idea as it saves so much time attaching and detaching. It may seem trivial but the rotating nature of the collar helps to position the slider much easier than to have to always move the tripod into position. I like the fact I don't have to lock it down before finding your spot. This reduces lot of where and tear.

Can you run an Epic and a 1030 on it? or is that too much weight?

It can take a 560 pound load so I'm pretty sure that head is fine. Just minutes ago I stood on the slider suspended across two apple boxes... no bending in the slider at all.

+1

And the option of an integrated 150/100/75mm bowl. It looks like a great slider, but I don't like the fact that I have to add a bowl adapter like the Cinevate (which raises the center of gravity). Otherwise, great review Bob, nice bit of kit.

It needs a Mitchell option

Can we please request the option of an integrated 150/100/75mm?
We use classic heads for our F65 and RED cameras and would love an integrated way to mount them that wont raise the center of gravity so substantially.

this would be nice to have...not a deal breaker for me but a really welcome option...

I hear you guys about the not having a built in bowl. This is a problem with all sliders of this type. Slider like the Dana have the luxury of having a bottomless area for the bowl. A cheaper and lower profile option is the Manfrotto 325N.

The Manfrotto 325N would restrict one to 75mm or 100mm bowls.

Understand the built in issues with a solid base…

Brings up a good point though - what are the dimensions (diameter) of the head attachment point?

Would it be possible that the metal be machined to the specs of a Euro male with that 3/8 flip-screw incorporated?
That way, we could use standard risers, leveling and adapters… or a still photo tripod head when that makes more sense.
