Hi

I just have a quick question, I will be traveling with my Dragon next week and I would like to know if I should pack my RedVolt XL batteries in the hold or should I carry them as hand luggage into the plane?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Antonio

If there under 95w I don't think it matters, however I think they prefer you to carry battery as hand luggage, uncharged and in a case or the contacts taped up.. However I fly frequently with several batteries (even over 95w) in both check in and carry on and I've never had a problem... Best to check with the airline your flying with though

Carry on is the right way to do it. Then you can pretty much take as many as you please. Even more than the carry on weight limit on most flight as they simply dont want them in the checkin luggage they allow them on board.
I usually try not to mention what I bring as the regular person working at the checkin does not know about these rules so when I bring it up it´s a big fuss over nothing and takes a long time until the guy who really knows the rules shows up and let me trough. So better to just have them as hand luggage and say nothing.

Thanks for your input. I will carry them with me.

I'm not saying this has happened to ME, but I have a very close friend who packed legal (under 91wH) Vmount batteries in their checked baggage, and TSA took it upon themselves to remove all but two of them and made it very hard to get them back. Impossible, actually. Luckily it was on the way HOME, and that friend learned a lesson.

So, I ALWAYS carry on batteries. ALWAYS. Plus, you know, if something happens it's far safer for all of us if we can get at them immediately.
