  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Transformers 2

the average critically acclaimed film like In the Bedroom or Monster's Ball is boring and pathetic compared to something like Transformers, which is actually fun and enjoyable and makes you remember why you see movies.

Okay people, discuss. Go.

I like fun adventure movies like everyone else, which is why I went to see the Transformers movies. They just weren't very good, especially the second one.

Really good adventure movies stay with you after the movie is over, they make you want to go back and revisit them, they become cherished over time. I honestly don't see many people cherishing "Transformers 2" a decade from now. Action and adventure is much more effective and involving when coupled with interesting characters, good dialogue, interesting plots -- put those elements together and it hardly matters that the efx get dated over time or that the action gets topped by later movies. This is one reason more people rewatch the original "Planet of the Apes" than the remake.

Otherwise it's just empty spectacle, which pretty much describes "Transformers 2".

Few films have the power to engage audiences with simple storytelling. In the bedroom and Monster’s ball are both examples of great American filmmaking, as is You can count on me, and Sideways. All of these films have stayed with me long since I first watched them.

I watch films in the hope of being challenged, to see the world from other people’s perspectives, and hopefully help me construct meaning to the world around me. For me personally, the highest points in cinema come from great performances.

I watch a variety of films, but I decided not to see Transformers 2. Now I know JonathanLB's comment was Polemic, at least I hope it was.

The most enjoyable things about Tr2 have been the many satirical articles/reviews written about it. I wonder if this film's legs come from the shear stupidity of it's construct? Are people twittering their friends "you gotta see this peice o' crap to believe it..."
