The 6-RED feature being shot in Shreveport, LA was rolling about a block away from me today. I got some BTS pics. All were taken on my point and shoot camera because I wasn't expecting them to be there- hence I wasnt prepared with a DSLR and/or my HDR...

Anyway, here they are:

who are u? You dont even ask me if you can take pictures and post them? The least you could do is tell me your going to take pics and post them. I dont care its just a lack of respect. You could just ask me or any of the producers and we would give you the clearance and would give you some decent pics to put on at that. If your on set tomorrow talk to me and i will get you some good pics to post.

If he had put them up on Flickr would you have freaked out as bad? It's no different than if Joe Schmo was walking down the street, saw what was going on and snapped a couple shots. I too don't see the big deal.

Any time you begin with "who are you?" it just sends the wrong message even if you were just guarding your interests and didn't mean to sound like a prick.

I think this post started out wrong. Looks like he is welcomed to come take pictures. The chance to get better photos is there along with the invite. If I saw someone working with RED cams here in Alaska, I would go right up and introduce myself. I would ask if I could take pictures and let them no what I would do with them. That is the right way to do it. As far as the starting of the post, it does sound very negative.

JohnLands, and who are u???

who are u?

Chris is an awesome guy that created Redrelay.net, a playground to host and share Red footage with. Whenever a stranger comes up to ask about the camera, I just tell them to go to Redrelay. Thanks for sharing the pics Chris. Mr. John Lands, you need a spoon full of sugar and a big joint to calm your nerves. Send me your address & I will provide you with both.

I just got a PM about this thread. I completely forgot about it because I reposted this on the BARD thread under footage and field tests.

Mr Lands, first, I apologize that this upsets you so.

Second, Shreveport really isn't a small town. Small town is like Benton or Minden where the population on some weekends drags near 1,000 people. :)

And beacuse Shreveport is not a small town- and you look quite busy in those pictures- I had no way of contacting you. If I had known you were here on RedUser, or if I had a way of contacting you, I surely would have asked politely. The photos were taken from public property which means really, there's nothing wrong with that. I didn't even know that was you I was taking pictures of, honestly. if I were you, I'd be glad I wasn't taking them to the HR or AIC for some real props. But I'm not the kind of person to paparazzi a set. It just so happens that there weren't any talent on set the time I was taking pictures, but had there been, I would not have shared them because that, really, is a different story.

I'm okay with taking them down if you really want them down. And if you really would like me to come to the set and talk with you about getting some better pictures of you, I'm down for that too.

I know you guys are busy through this week because I've already spoken to Michael Mansouri briefly about the production- so if you wish to contact me, feel free to call 318.294.1143. Tomorrow I'll be at the Robinson Film Center on Texas Street downtown pretty much all day. It's pretty easy to find.

PS- Michael and I are supposed to have lunch sometime in the next few days. You should join us- whenever that is...

I certainly agree with the fact that Chris is an awesome guy, I can understand him not wanting to bother anyone who is busy working.

All im saying is this. This is a small community of red users and if you come on set to take pictures you know your going to put up on this website a simple PM message or a simple email would have been great. Im not upset at all and dont care that the pictures were posted and im sorry for being harsh. If you want anything i will give it to you to post. Test footage ive shot pictures anything at all just ask I always invite people to the set and show people everything they want to know about the camera. Again sorry about the harsh post before.

Don't sweat it. At the time I posted the pictures, I didn't know anyone associated with the film was here on the boards. It is a rather large budget film and so the likelihood that one of the thousand or so camera owners was here on the boards was less than likely. And even if they were, I wouldn't have known where to look. The only other person associated with the film on the boards welcomed the posting of the pictures.

Again, lunch- if you can make it- after the production wraps perhaps. I'm going to call michael again tomorrow.
