Angenieux will offer the optimo rouge.
I quote: "It delivers industry proven superior optics and the functionality and ergonomic DP pros demand. Like a focal length of 30-80mm, fast aperture of T:2.8, calibrated focus marks, no ramping or breathing. All in a lightweight compact PL mount lens that weighs only 4.2 lbs/1.9 kg." AFAIK, Angenieux will offer that lens between 10-20.000 USD.

So for wide-angle, the 15-40mm zoom might be one of the coolest lenses on earth, but 46K might be hard to get for that lens. I would offer rather half of that price, but thats just me :)

Trust me, Stuart will get $46K for this lens. It is fantastic glass and we love ours.

i dont doubt that :)
there is no way to get angenieux zooms fast right now, and if someone needs it now, he might even get more than 46 if he decides to be greedy...

and my post was also rather meant to be on the "light side"

I'm definitely interested, but it's just not in the budget right now. I am actually looking for a decent deal on a used Angenieux 15-40 or preferably an ARRI LWZ1 15.5-45mm. ...Hard to find anyone willing to part with these.

The ARRI LWZ1 currently sells for around $47,000

The Angenieux Optimo 15-40mm T2.6 is so ever close to the absolute fantastic Arri/Zeiss Lightweight Zoom LWZ-1 15.5-45mm T2.6, and as far as weight they are also veri close differing only of .2lb on the heavier side for the LWZ-1.

The ARRI is actually just over $55k, but I'm a firm believer of a fair sale of used merchandise and I believe that the discount offered on he used Angenieux is just not in off, especially when selling items of such a range in price, a discount from the Brand new Factory product should be a more then just couple of thousand dollars.

I have heard nothing but great things about Focus Optics, and I have searched them my self several times for products, so I would buy from them any day of the year if they had something I wanted at the price point that would make my purchase a desirable one.

However again it is my opinion that used Items no matter how new they look and are, are still used items, and every one here as well as in the DVXUSER forum, knows about the great deals that I have been given every one in my brand new items sold as used, so it is natural for me to wanting to see others give better deals on used items.

At the end of the day it always will be a matter of the demand, and I'm sure this item has a very high demand, and as we all here have been taking advantage of the RED cameras demand Focus Optics is taking advantage of his offering with the Angenieux.

So good luck with your sale, and again even if I think it should be priced at list in the lower mid forty's it is still a deal as there will be immediate delivery, and I trust the lens to be in perfect conditions.

Also I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the heads UP, that you recently give here about warning has for the set of Zeiss for sale missing the 35mm, as I was about to buy that set and you surely saved me from making a big mistake.

As I'm looking to get my first project financed I hope to be able to get all the new Arri/Zeiss Glass, but I'll check with you to see what you might have when I'm ready to make the purchase.

Ciao

you're talking about 46,000, 47,000 bucks like i'm used to eat peanunts.. strange.. really strange..

Yes, I know... I have a quote for just under $47K around here somewhere. But that's why I'm looking out for a used one, to see if I can save a few $$$.

Jeff, I like to know about your quote as I'm most likely to buy this unit and was quoted Just above $55k, and even so I do get 5 to 10% discount, still not happy to know that this same unit has been quoted at less then $47k.

But as this units are fearly new in the market I doubt that there will be any used ones for sale any time soon, like you, I wish they were.

Ciao

I wonder when these quotes were issued. Arri and every other European manufacturer has raised prices several times in the last year as the dollar dropped relative to the Euro.

Stuart Rabin "aka Rabinowitz"

So........ the lens that you bought on E-bay (see link below) for $21,175.00 which was a great price by the way..... The problem being.... why would someone sell that kind of lens for so little money?? Have you thought about running that serial number through the correct channels to see if it has been lost or stolen??

Are you accusing someone of fencing stolen property? BTW...I know Stuart quite well, and bought many lenses from him over the years. At least he signs his posts.......unlike you.

Or are you just mad you never got the lens for that price?

Sorry, the price to be exact is $57,600 and out of stock as of last week.

This sounds more likely in the correct price range for the LWZ-1, even so I did get a better price from Abel, same as ARRI NY, all the other resellers had given me prices much higher and then off course offered discounts in the up words of 10 to 15% but even with the maximum discount offered the lens would still come out higher then Abel.

As far as buying this kind of lens used, I would be very careful, both for stolen property as well as to insure that a professional house like Focus Optics, checks the lens for you before full payment is made.

Ciao

Stuart Rabin and Focus Optics have been well-respected members of this industry for many, many years. I have personally done bsiness with him and he has always been a stand-up guy.

I can only read the questioning of his last name as an anti-Semetic remark, which makes it doubly offensive.

Everything I purchase I check out as best as I can to make sure it's not hot. If the price sounds a little bit too cheap, I check with PERA. Second of all, the person who bought this lens on ebay has nothign to do with me. I don't know who this person is, and this is the first I've heard of this auction. I am buying this lens for quick cash. If you really must know, I am making maybe $3,000 on this deal.
Panamyass: You should think twice before accusing. You should contact me directly if you have somthing to say to me, or try to find the person who won the auction.
The Optimo on the ebay auction that you are looking at was not purchased by me. I have no idea who this is or where it came from. The lens I am selling is legit, so watch it before you accuse. As far as your prejudice comment of putting non existing names of me, it shows your character and you don't even put your name on here and hide behind your user name. However, I wish I knew about this auction, because I would have won it and made some good money.
By the way, my user name on eBay is lenspro. You can look up the winner of the auction yourself if you want. Maybe you are bitter because you didn't win the auction. And I am bitter because I didn't know about the auction

I just bought a set of used Ultra Primes From Stuart that are in perfect condition at a reasonable discount off list and couldn't be happier. (try to get 10 Ultra Primes at one time now). You'll be waiting....

I'm interested, but just bought the Ultras, so a little short of cash at the moment ;)

Stuart's a stand up guy, so yeah, be careful who you accuse of illegal activities.

I can try to pull it for reference, but it's a few months old now. Could be close to 6 months, I don't recall... Either way, the quote has expired and I don't want to divulge who it was from to cause any problems or create any false pretenses over what prices should be as I know prices have gone up. ...I should have bought the lens back then. The quote was legit, brand new glass.
