Are there any third party Top Plates for Scarlet / Epic that can be used with RED's own cage accessories, or is everything propitiatory?

DD.

I've been using Viewfactor's cage and top plate with RED accessories without a problem. The threads are pretty standard for screw-on accessories... 3/8-16, 1/4-20. From the look of it, I believe you can mix the DSMC Tactical Ribs with Viewfactor's top plate also but I could be wrong.

afaik they are not compatible.
RIBS do not have the exact same height (RED's one are attached to the tactical side accs directly on camera, VF are attached to their bottom plate that is below the camera)
Also RED's RIBs are not symmetrical (top and bottom attachment are of different length)...

Am I right by saying that the incompatibility issues come with the inability to use third-party ribs with the camera, if you have opted for RED's own mounting plate, regardless of the top plate chosen? For example, you can use any top plate you want -- WC, VF, etc -- but you have to use RED's own ribs, as the bottom of RED's ribs attach to the bottom of the brain, as opposed to most (if not all) third party ribs, which attach to their corresponding baseplate?

DD.

Be careful when choosing top plates. I found that some third party plates will not work with the 2.0 fans. If you buy used or third party make sure you ask about the fans. If you eventually go Dragon or just upgrade fans like I did, you need a top plate that is compatible.

The WC top plate works with Red v2 top fans.

Yes, but only if the height of the 1/4"-20 holes on the sides of those third party top plates are the exact same height above the camera top as Red's own top plate. I am pretty sure most third party top plates have the same horizontal spacing as they tend to match the camera body rib spacing, but not necessarily the same vertical spacing.

What about the reverse - I love using Tilta's stuff, but the only thing I don't like is the Tilta top plate. I want to get the RED top plate with the fan cage (with the tilta top plate you have to remove the top fan cover exposing the heat sink), but the side cage and bottom plate from tilt work great.
