  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tom Lowe...

Waiting to see your magic with the Canon lenses. Does auto focus work with the extender on 70-200? How do you control the exposure on the 24-70, 70-200? Will image stabilization in the lens have any effect in handheld shot taking?
Will you be using ND-IR filters? I will stop now:)

You know, I have not used the auto-focus with the Epic + Canon lenses yet. Is that working?? What firmware do I need? How do I use it?

Russ, the Red Canon mount has an extra "twist" tightener on it that makes the lenses very stable on the Epic body.

Spent some today out at the Salton Sea with my brother filming on the Epic with the Canon mount. Good times.

My only problem with the Canon mount is that when I put on the 2x doubler, suddenly my iris control was gone. Any idea why this happened? Do 1.4x or 2X extenders make the Red Epic Canon iris control not work?

Granted, I am on an OLD firmware right now.

Tom, do you use the Quick Release System that Red has? Or do you use some other rail setup?

You obviously don't have one in this picture, but I was looking through your other photos and couldn't tell.

Here is a 4K 120fps framegrab from the Epic M with the Canon 70-200mm IS II + the new 2X Canon doubler. Pretty damn sharp.

Can anyone tell me how I can use the 2X doubler on my Epic and still have control over the iris? Right now, it just seems to set my iris at like f/11 when I put the doubler on. Is this something that is addressed in new firmware?

Well, i think it does, right? doublers work on Canon cameras, as far as I know, in terms of auto-focus, etc, right?

Maybe the contacts on the doubler need to be cleaned??? or on the lens side. You wouldn't think the contacts would be different enough to make a difference. Im sure you have gone through a cleaning to check if its that. Have you tried it with a different doubler???

Jarred posted in another thread that the doubler is not (yet?) supported.

A framegrab from Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas 2011. I shot everything at 96 fps and 120 fps, so I have like 10 hours or more of actual footage. The Master Primes really paid off for this event.

The shot of that pocahontas babe will almost certainly make it into my new production-footage trailer for "TimeScapes". I have it in the cut now.

Here's another BTS shot from EDC Vegas, with me using a Kessler Pocket Jib + Epic M + Master Prime 16mm. This shot will also be in the new teaser trailer.

Balls were tripped....

Our whole camera crew was faded the whole time, too, so it worked out well... :yesnod::sifone:

This photo from July makes a little nervous, even just looking at it now. :hand:
