I want to thank Jim for putting his trust in me. I'm humbled. Thank you Graeme, Jarred and Brent.

Right now I am reviewing footage I shot this evening at Salton Sea and my jaw is literally on the floor.

I shot 96fps 5K full sensor. The amount of detail in these shots is unlike anything I've ever seen. I would say it compares to 65mm 5-perf, but I might be understating how unreal this Epic footage looks to my eyes. And how many people can even shoot 65mm 5-perf at 96 frames per second? None that I know of.

Here's the camera this afternoon. Epic M #188.

The detail is stunning, but when you see 96fps COMBINED with this level of detail and image quality, that's when you realize you are looking at something new and different. 96fps is poetry in motion.

There is so much detail on these shots (which, BTW, proved to me that the Duclos 80-200 is very worthy of 5K), I could actually see these birds taking a crap in mid air.. and shaking the water off themselves. Details I have never seen in any of my footage before. Not even close.

Post of the week right there. :cheers2:

As with other threads like this... I'm going to delete some posts now that Tom has read them so his impressions can be easily found.

Nice shot of your Epic Tom. The little red streak across the letters is a nice touch.

How are you liking the 5k file size? Is it slower/faster than your RAW timelapses?

Has it changed your plans in any way Tom? Are you going to try and push to go back and reshoot some things in 5k over the 3k shots you had from the R1?

Hi Tom

Great to hear your thoughts on Epic.

I'm interested on your feedback also on the Duclos lens - are you using the new 80-200mm Nikon that Duclos are working on or is this an older model Duclos lens?

Best wishes

Scott

Congrats Tom!
I don't know if its something on your side, but I cant seem to view any of the images you post Tom. Every other photo, including the one in the first post on this thread works, except your images.

All i get is some error thumbnail :(

Can't think of anyone who can show off the capabilities of an Epic in more spectacular imagery than Mr. Lowe. Well deserved.

Hmmm, it's hard to think that you could shoot more impressive footage than you have already shot. Time to go back and re-shoot all your RED/5D shots with your EPIC.
