We just posted a video on the NULL Target to our blog, CineTechnica. I showed this prototype at IBC a few weeks back.

The NULL Target mounts to the NULL Lens to become a straightforward and accurate lens mount backfocus calibrating tool. The beauty of the NULL devices is that they are built upon simple design principles but with absolute precision. There are no moving parts so there is nothing to slip out of proper adjustment. By separating the components it allows the option of future accessories in the NULL family and one purchases only what one wants. This keeps costs low to the end user and precision high for the devices. Check out the video to see that it really is just that easy to use and understand.

I confirm! Mitch showed the prototype to me at IBC and it's quite amazing I must say. Either simply the Null lens and set backfocus on a background or object by eye, or the Null mounted with the Target and set backfocus with the laser target on your monitor. Takes seconds and the precision is speechless and unmistakable. Nice tools!

How much is the Null Target Mitch?

Paul

$1,595.00

Mitch,

what about a payment and shipping internationally at AbelCine Shop Online?

If I want to register there is only US as a country available?

$1595 is the price on the NULL Lens. We still have not set the price on the NULL Target as we are looking at tooling costs and final changes for the finished product. As nice as the prototype is the shipping version will be even nicer. When we have pricing and expected shipping dates I will let everyone know.

Unerstand this: Just like Jim says that it is best to get in now on a RED One to be in an advantageous position when the new products become available, so should you all consider purchasing a NULL Lens now. We have them in stock and they work excellently. And when the Target becomes available you will be happy you bought the NULL Lens.

We are working on a major revamp of the website but this will take some time. In the meantime we suggest that all international orders are handled by emailing us (there is a Contact Us tab on the product webpage) and we can work out ordering and payment arrangements via email. It may not be as efficient as a standard shopping cart, but it protects you and us from fraud and we do strive to handle everyone's orders efficiently. If any of this proves to be a problem you can of course contact me directly and I will ask someone to reach out to you.

Interesting addition Mitch but I think price will be the major consideration here for most people. So the cheaper the better ;)

That said, the NULL lens itself is highly recommended. We got one and collimated our cameras precisely in about twenty seconds. Dead simple to use. Here's a couple of example frames (cropped so you can see at 100%), first is not collimated and the second is. I did this using only the Red LCD but it's not a problem. I was looking at the wires on the crane and above the road by the traffic light. At this point for pixel peepers you are down to the limit of the sensor's ability to resolve detail (which works out about 3.2K of measurable resolution according to Graeme Natress).

BEFORE (actually I rotated this out of alignment deliberately to record an example of out of focus):
