  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tom Lowe...

I am all for full resolution, but in my post,
my intention was to achive maximum possible frame rate at acceptable quality ratio. In that case 2k.
80% of my commercial work is in slow motion.
English isn't my first language...sorry

If you buy an EPIC you don't have to make a tradeoff! :-)

The days of compromise are over.

Speaking of which, Troy, Dave and Eric at Adobe hooked me up with the Epic footage importer for Premiere. It handles 5K files natively, like a breeze.

Haha, you hear that Apple? I hope the update has all of it's shit together. No more half measures please.

great news about adobe and epic importer! great work adobe.

Geeeez. I love to support Apple, but Adobe's ongoing support and prioritization of Red is so impressive. Getting more and more tempted to jump :)

I feel like with Adobe, we as Red shooters have a supportive company on our side.

Congrats Tom... Nice Shoots Budy...as always.
You deserve that little toy.
Happy shoots ;)

Hope Scarlet footy will be supported too! My Quadro 4000 card just arrived for my Mac Pro today. Time to go Cuda! Is there a link yet for Adobe or is this a non-public preview you are checking out? Thx!

This is fantastic news...did they happen to indicate their plans for release?

I have a question - what is the weight differential between your DSLR - is it a 5d Mark II? - and the EPIC? (lightly loaded...)

...I'm curious to see if some of my DSLR gear (slider, Meade telescope head, that sort of thing) will also bear the weight of the EPIC.

Adobe gets Epic. Sounds like they had 5k support ready to go, just needed a little testing before sending out the Beta to Tom and company. Hardware acceleration by NAB and game over man, game over! ;) Just kiddin'

Couldn't CUDA at least be available on the PC side? Then again Rocket support might be a better move anyway. Though if you could full debayer RT on a $300 gaming card they would sell thousands and thousands of licenses. Still crossing fingers that might be possible somehow. I'd love to have that at home!

I wonder what Apple has up its sleeve. They need to get their stuff together.
