  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Me and Nilo filming water elements yesterday evening in the high Sierra.

I got the Redvolts, and will report soon here on my thoughts about them.

I would get a floatie or at least a plastic bag around that Epic. What are you trying to do?
Give us cheap thrills?? Can't wait to see the finished movie.

Johnny, they are Manfrotto 536 with 100mm bowl. Best sticks on the planet. The head is a simple Vinten 8AS.

These 536's don't have mid or ground support, but as you can see, they are plenty strong! Plus I can use them in mud, snow, water, salt water, etc. They blow away the CF sticks that Vinten sent me with the Vision 8AS.

I even use these sticks as the base for my Kessler Pocket Jib, with over 100 lbs on it.

Great tip Tom! I just put the 536 on my shopping list.

How do you like the Vinten head?

Filming more water elements at Yosemite this morning. :coolgleamA:

BTW, the Redmote is working perfectly since I upgraded it!

Um no... that river would have swept the camera away in two seconds!

Notice my death grip on the sticks?

Hi Tom,
What shutter speed were you using? Was wondering whether the force of the water induced any vibrations on the footage.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

I was switching between 96fps and 24fps, with 180 shutter. Yes, there was a bit of vibration, so I was gripping the tripod and camera firmly to dampen the vibration. It came and went according to gusts of water.

WOW! One of those shots that make you step back and appreciate your choice to get in this game rather than being stuck in an office from 9-5. Kudos Tom!
