  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Today was a very good day... S-W #218 arrived

Thanks for all the kind words!
Very nice work indeed! Could you indicate what was your audio setup? How good would you say are the camera's pre-amps if one were to work with the 3.5mm connection and an exterrnal mic?

The pre amps are great. Better than epic

Congrats on your weapon! How are the lenses and battery life? I've got a similar lens set as yours! :)

I am THRILLED with the lenses on this sensor. The Sigmas sure did perform. The 100 Macro is one of canons sharpest photo lenses and i think it shows. Such a fun lens to use. I purchased 4 Switronix 98WH batteries to start. They cover me on a shoot like this well. By the time im taping into the third battery the first is nearly charged and the second halfway there.

Alrighty, Ive got a rough draft up. Interested to see what you guys think. Shot mostly at 5K 2:1 60FPS as well as 4K 2:1 150FPS nothing lower. Some 5K 23.976 for scratch audio. So nice to have after having had rented Epics and having to get mics.

Hi John, thanks for the video. Can you confirm please max fps at 5K 2:1 is 60fps? That's awesome. I thought we had to go the 5KWS to get 60fps.

Hi John: On the HFR front, any compression/quality concerns with the 150 FPS footage you shot?

Does the scarlet-W shoot 5k 24fps @4:1? The manual still says 5:1 but Jarred and Brent said 4:1 a while ago.

I was not aware the DMSC2 body now has a mic builtin. That would be very handy for scratch.

Sorry! I misspoke... 53.63 is max frame rate at 2:1...

I was very happy with all the footage it shot at HFR. However I didnt pixel peep it too hard.

Yes but I remember them telling that it will be fixed in the documents. These documents were updated after this conversation and I see no change.

5K HD at 4:1~ 5K at 5:1

5K HD at 4:1~ 5K at 5:1

Are you sure about that?
From the Red team: "If you select 5:1 and the current settings allow for 5:1, the UI will indicate 5:1 in white and the camera will record at 5:1.
If you select 4:1 but the current settings will only allow 4.1:1, the UI will indicate 5:1 in yellow and the camera will record at 4.1:1."
Did you try to select 5kFF 4:1 and does it turn yellow?

I dont know what the RED team has said, but the read out 5k on my camera is the same thing as 5k FF that you speak of, I do believe, and as stated in my last post 5k will only shoot 5:1, where as 5k HD will shoot 4:1

Thanx for the info. Yes 5kFF is 5k. The conversation with Red was about the fact that the scarlet-w can't shoot 5k 4:1 but can shoot 5k 4.1:1. They were explaining that if you force select 4:1 it works, the only element that show it does is the yellow color of the "5k" redcode on the screen.
