  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

TIME AND DATE ISSUE...really?

Well I had a problem to mount my SSD today, but this it happened also in the past (after the new firmware update) before the internal battery issue. I heard some other people had this problem, so I removed it, wait some minutes and then it was ok. But, come on, when this things happen on set it freak me out!

Maybe this was already mentioned in this thread or elsewhere but support says it takes about 35 hours of uninterrupted running to fully recharge the internal battery in our Epic-W. Too bad the engineers didn't allow the battery to trickle charge the battery while connected to AC or battery power without running. Not a very good design.

This has happened several times with my Scarlet-MX ...it has been only about a year and a half maybe 2 years and I need to send it in again for another battery replacement...This has been the most negative aspect of being a RED owner... other than that I am pretty satisfied

I'm reciving many private messages on how I replaced the internal battery on my DSMC 1 scarlet dragon, I'm sorry but I don't remember exactly, it was a couple of years ago.

I'm not an expert but I'm confident on disassembling electronics, and for me was really easy.

I started from one side, I think it's this one below the red circuit, but when you open it you can probably see it through

There was nothing other than screws to take off, nothing glued or that is very delicate to brake, but be very carefull to dust etc.

Here some pics, red epic is the same, if you google RED EPIC TEARDOWN you might find something more

I think that the battery was the DL2032, but double check because it has been a while since I've replaced it.

Hope it helps.

If somebody did it recently can please share the procedure?

thanks
carlo

In the latest firmware release (7.02) it says:

Fixed RTC battery discharge rate when powered off

any insights?

Yes, any insights, anyone?

I've got an insight; are they gonna do the same thing for DSMC1?

But seriously, that sounds like a step in the right direction (though it could be something completely different than what you'd expect).

Please explain..lIm quite bored to have to take the camera with me everywhere just because if I leave at home for more than one week the battery will die....can’t stand this anymore..,,

Again - I just forgot to set date and time before a shoot on Saturday after the camera has not been used for a couple of days. Is this issue solved with the DSMC2 line? This is really annoying...

In case anybody is interested, unfortunately still the same after the DSMC2 board upgrade.

Ok so my DSMC1 Dragon has started to not remember the timebase settings after switching off, it reverts to 23.98fps at 1/48 shutter. The clock had also reset so figured the small internal battery had gone.. so stripped it down to replace the 2032 coin cell as figured this was the culprit! Now the time is fine and remembering correctly after switch off but other project settings still reset every time it's switched off. Is there more than one internal battery then? I am reading about leaving the camera on to charge the internal battery but those coin cells aren't rechargable at all in my knowledge. Really annoying as i run mostly at 25fps and have to set this every time I switch it off! Also my colour settings are resetting to a horrible saturated look!

Leaving the camera on to charge the internal battery is only on DSMC2 bodies. Maybe your issue is a internal hardware problem but maybe is one of the modules failing. Try to power the camera naked without side handle or any other module and connected to the ac adapter. Also you can try upgrading or downgrading the firmware. If nothing work send a log file to Red and they will tell you what to do.
Good luck!
