  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tim Daust: "Haley at the Mill" RED KOMODO 6K TEST FOOTAGE

I'm gonna be that asshole... Posting of super crushed, highly stylized footage on youtube of this camera doesn't help anyone. Great for maybe seeing the global shutter with slomo, but everything else is useless and kinda hurts rather than helps. The dynamic range shown in this images is like 9 or 10 stops at best... Just post R3D snaps! It really makes the camera look bad, when we all know it's not, but yet we dont get to see much from it

I’m not sure that’s too fair. There’s already several videos showing the DR off plus R3D’s from this film available. I think it’s great Tim shared a graded film. Love the look.

R3Ds for this shoot are available. Check out the Komodo Facebook group.

Can we post the links to the R3D files here, or are links not allowed? I do not Facebook.

Where are the links? So far I see none, just youtube videos... Also his link on youtube is dead, wont link to anything....

Thanks for sharing!

Was this all shot handheld? Looks pretty smooth given there is no IS on the lenses nor the brain.

well.. you called yourself that.. so there is that.

I didnt have a chance to start my own thread here about the topic before someone else snagged the link and did it.

I shared several several ... did I mention SEVERAL images ungraded on the "Red Komodo Users" facebook group. I even shared several , SEVERAL r3ds.

Like Curtis Boggs, I dont have a place to host the files so I used wetransfer links which will unfortunately expire.

as far as graded/ungraded... I shared nothing but straight out of camera ungraded images for 3+ weeks and got NOTHING but complaints about not seeing GRADED images.. strange huh? its the internet and you cant make everyone happy. EVER. doesnt matter what you do, there will be an A hole that says something because they are not happy. all good tho, no worries. Ill share some ungraded images here on this thread for you guys, but I got a ton of complaints about my images not showing up because they are hosted on reduser and therefore you have to be logged in to see them. again. cant make everyone happy. and again, I dont have a place to host the files that wont be limited on bandwidth.

anyway. thanks everyone for taking the time to watch my test... it is , after all, a simple test.

I shot this on the steadicam air 15 monopod.

thank you !!!

I understand this is th directors choice grade
But I would like to see a more pleasing to the skin tone and image grade
More flat, like... ARRI or clean helium.

Otherwise yes you sold me a monopod in this video
It is cool.

The steadicam air is really nice... especially for komodo

ill drop some ungraded frames here, just be sure to be logged in to view them.. stand by

ill do these screengrabs by the lens... this first batch are all

this one in particular really shows some hard highlights on the skin. I think komodo handles it really well.
