  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thoughts and Tips responses here...

I tried using some of that footage a while back and it did nothing but crash all RED programs.

I eventually found some usable R3Ds out there but it took a while of searching the forum.

Any good links?

Just got my Tangent Wave hooked up to this new Redcine-X....

Holy crap! I mean, holy grail...

looking at the footage on a real monitor, instead of playing with this on my laptop at home...

...you really begin to understand the FLUT control.

The Tangent Wave allows you to fine-tune this control to absolute microscopic perfection. It is my new favorite knob!

pure, absolute genius.

All I can say is --- thank you.

I've not used it because it duplicates render times, but if I'm not mistaken Jim adviced to use like 150 strength and 0,3 radius for 4K footage.

That's really helpful! Nice to see an actual tip in the response thread for tips and tricks ;)

I'll add one: If you're recording to the red drive, don't go over 90% full, or you'll start to risk audio faults, dropped frames, and/or crashes. This is of course true with any hard drive -- over 90% and performance gets compromised -- you just don't usually notice it on a computer.

This also might've been ameliorated in more recent builds (I think I was on build 17 or 18 when I got cocky and made that mistake), but it's good practice anyways.

Hey Mr. JJ and JL:

How about a Thoughts & Tips sub-thread like you've done but from some of the big boys -i.e. SS, PJ or DF? Could be a rotating thing -either well-known/respected directors, DP's (including our very own David Mullen), Colorists, Gaffers...it would be a fantastic resource, and I'm sure would pull even more folks to reduser.

This is something I'm sure you guys could facilitate (and keep them from getting fanboy solicitations in their mailboxes) and would be something no one else is doing.

Framing not working

Framing not working

Am I the only one who can't do a Framing? Not for rendering but for Preview. I'm lost in that part...

I have played quite a lot with RCX b84.

If you can implant the XML support, you have a Marvel here, no doubt.

but please...implant the XML so every time you update, we're ready to use with Editing suites.

Graeme, the colors are wonderfull.
Incredible work.

Thanks a lot to all of you at RED!

Antoine

Did you try "Fit Both" or "100%" on the right upper corner of the preview window?

No responses yet to the one-match lit images... check out the newest addition Thoughts and Tips page. Amazing!

"This is ISO 2000 at T 1.3. No noise reduction whatsoever."

Even though I have not used Redcine X or shot on a Red yet, I still found the post very informative and exciting. Can't wait to get my hands on a scarlet for the first time. I'm tired of 1080p.

I'm assuming the FLUT controls and all the new features work with Scarlet as well?

Great program!

Great program!

Having fun with RedcineX.

The FLUT option is a great feature. I shot this at night time during our last snow storm with the RED 18-50mm lens (opened all the way) at 320ASA using available lighting. The original RAW file is quite dark, but it's amazing how much I can pull out of it.

I'd like to see the ability to use power windows or vignettes in redcine-x to isolate sections I want to color. I know, I'm probably asking for too much.
