  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm a little late to the party here.

Does anyone who's been here from the beginning of the thread to now have some concrete facts as to what the upgrade entitles?

- Eligible Camera Models
- Price Brackets for Each Camera
- Pre-Order Date & Time
- Shipping Time Frame
- Deposit Amounts
- Upgraded Camera Models/Specs

Seems like it got out of hand and theres allot of smoke on this thread to see clear of what is what.

If anyone could chime in that would be appreciated I'm sure I'm not the only one just tuning in.

I purchased a used Red last week so I'm curious to see where I stand on all this.

Been stated here quite a few times. Plan is to stop accepting orders for the Oct 11 upgrade paths on Dec 31. But if volume dictates we have end some sooner, we will.

Short window unfortunately, but look at it on the bright side, a camera that would have been executed is still breathing life. You just need to get in by the end of this year.

Thanks, sorry it's hard to keep up with 500 pages when working regularly... Not a complaint. Just saying it isn't easy to track.

Do cameras have to be fully sent in by then? Or just a deposit made by then? Thats crazy busy season for myself.

Just for some clarification, I'm putting my order in tomorrow but for others. If you have a CF Weapon will that upgrade to helium be possible for longer than the 31st?
 
Ooof.. So I have to call Heather tomorrow? Sounds like she's the rep for the entire midwest and a million people in this topic, haha. I feel like I'll get a busy signal all day. I already emailed her with my intention to upgrade from Scarlet-W (dec 10) to Epic-W.
 
No problem sir:) REDUSER can be a bit crazy sometimes so I'm probably a bit defenceive. I wish I was in the position to drop 25k on a camera without knowing and understanding all the facts but I'm not + with arse dropping out of the £ today, missing out on the package is just a bit annoying.

What do you own... that is an easier place to start than trying to answer your questions, answers to some of which are not really known.

Pretty easy thing to go through all of Jarred and Brent's posts. You can get through it in 10 min. Do you know that shortcut?
 
Just bought an Epic X Dragon and to RED.COM says its no longer upgradable to Weapon Dragon MG.

But now I'm reading that it was an option to Upgrade to Epic-W but now no more?

I render dailies overnight so I'll stay tuned, they usually post around 1am or 2am Pacific Time.

We love our cameras so much, it's hard to keep the decision logical.

If it's Epic-W, your pipeline is gonna need to be able to handle 8K. Because word is, and check this for yourself, that 8K = Super35 on this camera. If you shoot 4K, it's essentially 16mm film. This is a problem for me, because super35 is really important for the work I do.

Add in, as a Scarlet Dragon owner, that you no longer get the AKS included in your Scarlet Dragon upgrade deal. So add in about $5K for that, so now it's $15K to get started. Then, add in you'll be filming at almost double the data you used to need on S-D. So you're gonna need a lot more media. Add in... $3K more if you do short-form commercials like me.

It begins to dawn on this guy that maybe Epic-W isn't quite the camera for me. It's really more like $18,000 more than my S-W, which is a perfectly fine camera for 99.99999999999999999999% of the work anyone is doing on planet Earth.

Then again, maybe this Epic-W is exactly what I need, we'll know tomorrow. And if it's not the camera for me, I hope enough of you jump on this amazing deal so that finally my S-W becomes available immediately ;-)
 
Any emails received before we go live tomorrow are not considered "official".

Order has to be placed before Dec 31 or when we end that offer (which could be sooner). Cameras don't have to be sent in before Dec 31, no. But, again, this is not open ended, so there very well could be a "send in by (x)" date...

Thanks Brent. I guess the best thing to do at this point and just tune in tomorrow. Hoping the Deposit is within reach! Looking forward to see how this all shakes out.

The ship has probably sailed for you to upgrade to Weapon Mg, and your upgrade price tomorrow (i believe, someone correct me if this price is wrong) is around $17500 for Epic-W, and you have to trade in your camera...

If you can handle the wait, it might be worth throwing down the $1k scarlet-w deposit and pay $20k for the Epic-W.
 
Hey Cid you need to have your Epic Dragon registered in your name before the announcement tomorrow for the camera to be eligible for the Epic-W upgrade to you. So that is something you should do today if you haven't yet done so. Just a heads up.
 
You also get to keep your scarlet d as well if I'm not mistaken but if you upgrade to epic w it's a swap

So if I would have received the sw I would have got the package and kept my scarlet d

Really really not looking for a fight:) just trying to get my head around this
