  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

2. Your time stamp matters the most. The people putting in deposits today get a today timestamp. You with an earlier time stamp will get your camera first... if you press the go button that day one.

but... there is one thing that kinda throws that for a loop. Since we have such a massive amount of cameras ready to ship on Tuesday, It's going to be a bit of a free-for-all. It really depends how many Scarlet-W to Epic-W switchers call in that first day.

If at the end of the day we have more cameras left over than people with early deposits call in to switch, we are going to move those cameras out the door to whoever shows up because we are in full manufacturing swing... and will be making a healthy amount of cameras every day.

So come day 2, we kinda reset and take the orders and see who that day has the earliest time stamp from before this all and ship them out and if there are any left over they goto whoever is next on the standby. rinse and repeat.

And Dealers.. they will have a bunch of cameras in inventory as well, and they are supposed to follow the time stamp for their own orders, but that's impossible for us to police which is why i suggest if you have your order in with a dealer you should show up there and bribe the hell out them.

This all of course assumes we get a controllable amount of orders that first day. If it goes way off the charts and we get more SW to EW orders than we have stock of.... then its kind of insanity and your timestamp is even more important.

Gents could someone shed any light on exactly what drunken financing is please?

Im a Epic Dragon owner and will be looking to go to Epic W ( I think .. I'm a little confused by everything tbh :D)

It is strange, there was post that the price from MX to Epic-W is some more little 10k
20K is the strange price because you can sell you MX for 12K, and add 18K and buy Epic-W for 30K, so I think price in 20K is too hihg for upgrade from MX to Epic-W. I think the price will be about 12K because there is no sence to upgrade for 20K, maybe only if you want get Epic-W more faster for a few months.

(more precisely something like $19.950 I think)
 
But in this case it would be more rationally to sell your MX for 12K and pay additionally 18K to get Epic-W.

That's why the upgrade program is not forced on you :)

It's an option. If you like the option, just take it, if not, don't take it, but please do not complain about the price.

I personally think the upgrade deal is awsome and has a great price. You've said it yourself, you would end up spending the same amount of money if you sold your camera and bought a new EPIC-W, so the price is not the problem. How come you think you should pay less? No business offers upgrades or trade-in deals for prices that are better than those on the SH market.

By upgrading your gain is much more than money, you make the transaction hassle free and you don't waste time and money advertising and selling your 5 - 6 year old camera.

Jarred stated that this "upgrade" doesn't make sense in a 1 + 1 = 2 kind of way. It's more a "take it or leave it" kinda deal, you're free to sell your cam and order a new Epic-W. Or take advantage of the REDloop ;)

RED makes no sense, RED makes cinema cameras

It is kind of like the Loch Ness Monster. Everyone has heard of it, it is no doubt capable of awesome power, but nobody has actually seen it!!
That will of course change tomorrow when it comes roaring out of the lake!!!

It are words but the price is only figures. You pay for something big price with big advatage or for something low price with less advantage. But tell me please what is advantage of upgrading program from MX to Epic-W for 20K if you can just sell your MX for even 10K and add 20K and get Epic-W? It is the same way. You will get Epic-W for the same price. Of course Red has not give you a presents but only in this case 11 October or any other day can called BIG day or just common announcement and upgrade program for MX is not something special. I want to upgrade my MX to Epic-W, but what is advantage do you think to upgrade? if you just can buy it for the same price even maybe a few months later. We just need honestly say that there is no advantage for upgrade for MX you can upgrade or can buy anyway the price will be 20K. And even it would be better because in a few months you will get a lot of so nesessery information about Helium. So if price is 20K there is no any difference between upgrading from MX to Epic-W and selling MX and buying Epic-W. Am I not right? I just see some post from somebody that the price will be a little bit more then 10K so it was suprised of cource)

People on here need to stop bitching about whether "they" are getting a good deal or not. Everyone has a choice. Just because "upgrades" don't suit everyone at every time. I have my Dragon. I am happy. For me, this is the best camera in the world. I get to switch it on every day and shoot 6K images all day, whether its a film or just my kids. And those images will be totally valid to a 4K output for years to come!

Did I upgrade to Weapon MG or Weapon CF? No. Why? That's my choice, be it the timing wasn't right, or business wasn't good enough to justify it. Who cares. I certainly don't. Do I feel hard done to. NO. Why? Because RED have done more than they ever have needed to do. I bought into the system and the system has rewarded me with images that are none-compariable with any other camera (in my opinion). Do I feel hard done too whilst others are using the "latest & greatest", again, no. I get to shoot 6K!!! And I'm happy for it.

RED have been "over generous" over the last 10 years, dating back to the RED One days. No other company has given upgrade deals like this. Everyone other camera manufacture encourages you to buy the latest camera. RED have offered to "help" everyone. Everyone has a choice.

Besides, sometimes, there are more important things in the world to worry about other than if the company you bought a camera from don't do the deal you want at the time you want it!

If I don't upgrade, am I going to bad mouth or not support a company that has given me a wonderful life by letting me do what I love? No. If anything, I will encourage new people to jump aboard the train. Take the ride. Those that know me, know my passion for RED. I will make great images with my "little 6K" camera :)

The 10K price was/is for Scarlet-W deposit holders/owners. Jarred stated the price would be quite a bit more for MX owners. It took some time before the price was set and people speculated in the meantime.

Companies are in business to make money and help their customers. Maybe you can explain to Red WHY they should even give you $10K for your old camera. They don't want your camera. They have no use for it. For them, it is an old paper weight with no value. Please stop the complaining and just move on if the deal isn't right for you.

SIDE NOTE: Selling any camera on Reduser or eBay is a tricky business. Some buyers are honest. Some not so much. Red is making this EASY for you. That is worth a lot.

That's why I will do that. I know myself that even if I jump on the loophole I will not use the MX ever anymore.
I still hope RED does something cool with the old camera's. Like send them to schools or something. I hope I can make a diffrence for someone that way.
 
Hey Jarred,

got a SW EDU deposit in Feb via RED Germany. Due to the closure I got switched to teltec. Now the E W is in line... Is there any info about the upgrade pricing for EDU?

Can't wait to finally get hands on my first RED :)
