  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SIDE NOTE: Selling any camera on Reduser or eBay is a tricky business. Some buyers are honest. Some not so much. Red is making this EASY for you. That is worth a lot.

And Dealers.. they will have a bunch of cameras in inventory as well, and they are supposed to follow the time stamp for their own orders, but that's impossible for us to police which is why i suggest if you have your order in with a dealer you should show up there and bribe the hell out them.

This all of course assumes we get a controllable amount of orders that first day. If it goes way off the charts and we get more SW to EW orders than we have stock of.... then its kind of insanity and your timestamp is even more important.

Well, I wrote the advantages for upgrading in my previous post.

1. You pay the 19500 + send in your camera -> you get a new shinny Epic-W worth 30K - your cost, ~2weeks of waiting for the upgrade + 19500 + 60 for shipping

or you take your "sell my camera route"

2. Sell your MX for 10K (publish a reduser post or Ebay listing for 12K and hope for the best) - 2months later, drop the price to 10K, after another 2 months, drop the price to 8K, and maybe sell it for 7K! Then add 23K and get your Epic-W if RED can produce them fast enough and maybe get it in your hands in another 2 - 3 months. You would probably end up waiting 6 - 12 months and paying 23K or more to get the Epic-W via selling your camera.

Now you can see what the benefit of upgrading is! TIME which = money and money, so you end up saving MONEY, a LOT!

*it is important to understand that if anyone can purchase a NEW Scarlet-W brain for 10K, NO ONE will pay almost the same for a used EPIC MX :)

Also, keep in mind that the prices listed in this October 11 offering will be subject to change.
Jarrad mentioned it will likely go up when they reach an undisclosed number.

One factor you may be overlooking is the duration of the MX to Epic-W upgrade offer vs the "here today, gone tomorrow" Scarlet-W to Epic-W offer. Jarred described the Scarlet-W to Epic-W upgrade as "here today, gone tomorrow." To me, that indicates the deal may very well only last for one day. On the other hand, the MX to Epic-W offer is valid until the end of December, if I am not mistaken. For now, even as a DSMC1 owner, you could still legitimately make a S-W deposit today, keep your MX, and still get the E-W for the "here today, gone tomorrow" rate. But unlike those of us with Scarlet-W deposits in (I'm told by my Bomb Squad rep my wait is until "early 2017" for my Scarlet-W, by the way), you have a few months to make your DSMC1 to E-W upgrade, during which time the price for everyone else is $10,000 more than what you would pay. I would say that is an incredibly generous offer, however misunderstood it may or may not be by some folks. And considering those cameras aren't even supposed to have upgrade paths at this point, it's even more incredible, don't you think? If you want the epic-w for the "here today, gone tomorrow" price, just buy a S-W and do the "REDloop" deal.

Thanks, you are right of course.
And Epic-MX is still a great camera. Yes, some old but actually I mean only less additionally 3 stops compare to Dragon but it is still the great camera and can shoot cool picture)
Time is not a big deal I think 3 or 5 months it is a just common rush always for new cameras.
You are right in the part that Epic-W will reduse of course the price for MX and it will be selling for 6K next year.
But anyway benefits are very little and even if I will sell my MX for 6K next year i need to pay 24K for Epic-W (or may be price will be less the next year) so the price of question is about 4K more or less it is not much)

I would say that # is probably very close if not far past already.. from the looks of the hype this thread created its impossible to guess.. I get the feeling we will have less than 24 hours... on your toes people

What exactly are you guys excited about for tomorrow?
Haven't the Epic-W beans already been spilled?
The $20K deal will not exist tomorrow.
Isn't today the day to be excited about, since it's the last chance to take the deal?
Was something else hinted?

Edit:
I just read that Jarred said he has a massive amount ready to ship. I'll assume that's the cause for excitement and not the announcement itself.

Some will actually be getting cameras tomorrow... so having the camera and shooting with it is better than talking about it.

And there will ALWAYS be more information. We do know that final color science / tools / software updates will be later in the month... early November.

Oh yeah. I'm hoping that by the end of the week I'm shooting and testing instead of refreshing the update thread haha. Could be wishful thinking though.
