With this "low" of exceptions of resolution and frame rate, I have a feeling 8k FF 60fps, and WS 75 is going to be in. (just higher compression numbers). Cause exactly guys, this is the EPIC camera. Full fledged camera. Weapon just takes Epic, and makes it better, in terms of compression, and weight.
Feels bad to be wrong. haha

Allwell, 6K for the high speed is more than adequate. Although, now the price premium for Weapon feels more justified than before, imo.

Jarred, do you think weapon magnesium will ever be able to upgrade in the future to weapon helium or whatever is next after this fall or is this my one and only window?

Yes.. MG can upgrade after this window.. down the line. You are on the normal program and have followed along the upgrade paths like a good lad.

The rules and prices will likely very different of course down the road.. but you will have an option.

Yeah, I think it makes total sense that the Weapon Helium is the high FPS + lightweight powerhouse. As much as I'd love high FPS on the Epic-W, they don't want to cannibalize their Weapon Helium sales. Gives a real strong incentive to pay the premium.

Also, in response to Andy Roberts' post, here is a link that directly compares Dragon 4K to Helium 5K (instead of two links comparing them to 35mm), if you wanted to see the crop difference: http://phfx.com/tools/formatCompare...wo_typeTech=RED|Helium&formatTwo_format=5K FF

Haha great thx

FWIW, starting now and ending in 10 days is a "2 years foolcontrol iOS release anniversary" promo running.

Mikael that is so COOL! I was going to wait until I get my cameras...but not anymore!

The difference of FOV and crop factor at the same FPS between SW and EW is negligible... 10%

Epic-W at FF 6K 48FPS (maybe 50FPS, Jarred?)

6K is a nice sweet spot in terms of resolution and crop on the Epic-W.

It is no mistake that at 6K on Epic-W that crop is pretty much the exact same size of APS-C ( 22.4mm wide ) , and that is where most other S35 cameras sit within a mm or so for comparison.

6K crop puts you right exactly back where ALL your S35mm lenses will fit... which is kinda the whole point.

And yes Andy you can have your 50FPS.

The Epic-W can hit 75 fps at 6K FF (6144 x 3240) , 100 fps at 6K WS (6144 x 2592)

There is still the special financing plan to talk about. But, I fully expect that will be held unti the 11th. Or, will it Jarred?

Day made! This was the only thing I was worried about, almost never needing over 72fps on the epic-D anyway. Checking this thread at least twice a day at this point in a hotel in my only off time between shooting days ha!

We have a pretty extensive Educational program that a good chunk goes to. And we have some "special" gov customers that we can't talk about that go through a lot of cameras.

I've tried to get our college on that Education train, but never received an answer from the person that is supposedly over the Salt Lake region... maybe they don't talk to the professors, just the money people.

Is there a path from Scarlet MX to Scarlet-W?

Sadly not. I wish there was, even if it meant I was at the very very very very back of the S-W queue.

Silly question: When the specs say that ProRes is limited to a certain frame rate, is that a base frame rate? For example, if I shoot varispeed 75fps 6K do I have the ability to record a ProRes file of this since the project rate is 23.976?
