  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Terry, if you have paid a deposit for a Scarlet-W, you will pay around $10K (!) for the upgrade to Epic-W. Thats the special deal Jarred is offering... Of course you need all the extras for DMSC2 too...

There is so much truth this this statement. It's great to offer price points, but simplicity is also important.
Red is doing such an awesome job!

I will love to be able to answer any of the questions below with an enthusiastic, "Yes!"

Do you have a RED?
Do you have a Weapon?
Do you have an Epic?
Can you shoot 8K?
Can you shoot 4K ProRes?

The only "no" will be, "Will Super 35 lenses porthole at full frame 8K?"
 
Really thankful to Jarred and Brent for all the goodies so far. I have been fortunate to be a part of the S-W deposit club and have no experience whatsoever with the RED family practice, but it seems that these 300+ pages have ultimately shown me how much J&B have committed to bringing a one-of-a-kind company to serve the mass of passionate filmmakers out there.

You guys have something coming from me when I get home soon from Taiwan.

Pretty sure it's $10k on top of the Scarlet brain price, not the deposit price. So $9950 + $10k = $19950.

Right?

The Epic-W is going to be $11k total for S-W deposit holders, is it?

And, even though it's going to be an incredible deal the RED team is offering me for my wait, and I am truly THANKFUL for that, I'm still heavily leaning on keeping in line for the Scarlet-W. If this is the case, I think that is most efficient, especially for you guys to have to deal with recently shipped out Scarlets that will be shipped back just to get the Epic.
From Jarred's pic of all the Epic-Ws getting made and lined up for the October 11th news, is there a similar picture of Scarlet-Ws getting stacked up as well to be purged out? So that both "switchers" and "stayers" of Scarlet-W orders get filled at a quicker pace?

Would love any light on this. I've been patiently waiting and will continue to be patient since putting my order in January 1st. Just want to know if us that will stay in the Scarlet-W camp will get our cams sooner.

You don't sound like a party-pooper at all... at least not to me.. and you have some good questions.

First.. yes of course... we are shipping out Scarlet-Ws every day.... that hasn't slowed down, it's sped up, you will see on social media and here people getting their Scarlet-Ws (and Ravens) every day.

Don't have a photo of a bazillion Scarlet-Ws sitting and waiting for delivery because we ship every one that goes out the door as soon as it's made and gone through testing, there is no stockpile.

But you can look at that photo of all the Epic-W's ( which has grown tremendously since I posted that ) and pretend they are Scarlet-Ws in a way, since remember that is the whole point of this program. People that are waiting for their cameras get first priority on those Epic-Ws, so every camera that gets switched and take from that stockpile basically moves you staying with Scarlet-W one camera forward down the list.

And since both lines are separate.. the Epic-W and Scarlet-Ws.. and both are producing cameras, we will be cutting through that backlog at record pace. And even when we blow through all those Epic-Ws we have ready... ( I would not be surprised if it was the first day) , The machine is strong... So there will be reinforcements coming in on a daily basis to keep attacking away the list.

but yah err honestly that would prob be better than the rat race of a camera jockey life i live in right now heh
 
Matthew is already sorta working for you, I stoked him with question and got back answers in 2 minutes.
Probably a good choiceto hire some reinforcements;)

Its not me closing the thread.. the database entry on this thread is so long now it takes a shit-ton of time for it to open and close it so it automatically locks it while its doing it when an admin is posting. Come October 1st ill start a new update thread :)
 
So pumped to hear that there are significantly more epic ws than that picture he posted a little while ago. So is it confirmed that these cameras are shipping right after the announcement or is there another date

For those waiting on a Scarlet-W, which today is $9,950, the cost to Epic-W is $10K more....$19,950 total. So I don't think your path as a Scarlet Dragon owner is $32K. You could buy the Epic-W outright (and keep your Scarlet Dragon) for $30K. Of course you would need DSMC2 modules. And mini SSDs.

Wow, the 1-2 punch of 4K ProRes HQ and availablility have me calling my accountant. Thanks so much for grinding it out for us. Very excited for it to be Oct11!
 
If Scarlet-W has an upgrade option to both Epic-W and Weapon Helium, how is the supply of Weapon Heliums looking for day one? It's unlikely I'd make that big of a jump but maybe this saki payment plan will change things...
