  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I was going to ask if you all were going to just swap out the boards and sensor and keep the Mg body, but I guess that answers that. A whole new camera for the upgrade! Now I understand why you all said the process should be much faster and smoother than past upgrades.
 
Been following the thread for the last 200 or so... Nutbar.

I currently have a scarlet x and a deposit in for a scarlet w. Does it make more sense - financially and time wise - to switch the w order, or trade in the x? Also, I forget if this was mentioned... will there be a cut off for dsmc1 upgrades? If I sell the scarlet x after the 11th, would someone still be able to go through the transfer of ownership and trade it in for an upgrade?

Seriously, good to see a more concise lineup - but I wish the nomenclature was more consistent. You may want to post a guide on RED.com in the FAQs to avoid having to break it down for folks who don't know the "code".

Your decision on the former. On the latter, no. Many of these upgrade paths only apply to owner of record as of Oct 11, pre announcements.
 
As a Dec 10 8:10pm Scarlet-W preorder, I'm really excited to hear about this saki plan. And now I'm hearing that there's possibly an upgrade option to Weapon Helium? Hmm... Very curious.

I quickly went through the last 30 pages of excitement, saw someone talking about high frame rates with wider sensor FOV. Did we get more info on frame rates (for cropped resolutions) on Epic-W?

Wow - my head hurts...

I currently have a Scarlet Dragon. This thread has convinced me to put a deposit on a Scarlet-W package before 10/11 (discounted per my Scarlet Dragon ownership). That way I either can take delivery of a new Scarlet-W (eventually) and at least move ahead to DSMC2 or, I guess I can move to the Epic-W queue within some (unspecified) time frame after 10/11. I think I have that much correct.

Now the question...

My understanding is that Epic-W is 8K and since I am a bit more of a fan of shooting 6K at this point, I guess my "target" end point might be a Weapon Dragon (6K) rather than the Epic-W (8K). Is that pathway even possible? It seems it should be less expensive than going to Epic-W but what do I know. Can anyone shed some light?

Bold question here: For upgrading a Epic-X MX, between Jarreds original "a bit more than $10k" and someone (dangerously close) guessing around $17.5k, how much will it really cost? Trying to get the funds ready :-)

If your end game is WEAPON 6K CF, Terry, I would seriously look at the existing WEAPON 6K upgrade package.

Terry, the Scarlet W deposit to Epic W is a steal of a deal. That and from all the buzz, the Helium is better in low light than even Dragon. I don't know what the frame rate for the Helium @ 6k is but I'm sure it is substantial.

EDIT: Or what Brent said in the post above. '-)

How can I check this on my red.com account?
My rep tells me the camera is registered to my name. I did transfer of ownership a while ago. But I don't see anything on red.com where I can check.
I really don't want to be stuck on 10/11....
