  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We are past the early Raven switchers and are getting Scarlet-Ws out as fast as we can in increasing numbers ( as you have noticed ) but still hand to mouth on sensors... but we have almost double the ovens now so "should" be able to get out a bunch more Scarlet - W this month.

Yeah I have noticed the increase of scarlet w's out in the wild. Thanks for the little update Jarred, it goes a long way after 9 months of sleepless nights aha

BadAss indeed...

If you don't mind me asking (if anyone knows) what is the lens on that? Is it symmetric Biogon type or Distagon/retrofocal ? Sorry if that seems like an ignorant question as it would probably take me weeks to find reference to that (perhaps)? But looks super useful for the kind of stuff in our "Sand pit". [Assuming its an actual lens rather than a back focal plane calibration "device"].

Cheers!

Eric

The 24mm on Jarred's camera is a lens from GDU, which are designed around Canon lenses: https://global-dynamics-united.myshopify.com/products/gdu-24mm-s35mm-lens

edit: oops! Jaimy answered your question in the very next post. Somehow I scrolled right past it when looking to see if anyone had answered your question.

Thanks so much all the same. Was nice to visit their facebook page. Really fun/good sense of humor and yet really forward thinking things going on and a lot of forward "Doing" ; (really up my alley) and seems that they have their heads screwed on straight for what's coming next... Really nice :-) .

Cheers!

Eric

Hello everybody, hello Jarred.

I am a French new customer Red! I I used a lot Red camera on film shoots and I decided to buy a camera in your unique reseller in France, I ordered a SW of mid-July. You think I would have the chance to receive it in the fall as written on the site at the time of order?

I find it really cool reduser forum and I find it so much human and involved as Jarred be you on the forum! I still much you read and learn here..

that's great !

I figured the Ranger was sort of like the Xenomorph cams. Not something that would make it to the general market.

That's what I thought too.

I think they are the same as the BayHem.... Have integrated HD Video and RT focus

I could be very very wrong but perhaps they will offer this option in October....

That would be nice. Maybe this is a proof of concept of that and other things.

Are we not supposed to talk about the Ranger?

Really!????

Just noticed its not a stormtrooper. It being white and Jarred holding in a Handheld configuration I thought it was showcasing the handles.

Now this is interesting! As a " keep the camera the smallest, handheld able form factor" kind of shooter- and a fan of the stormtrooper white- this makes me really, really interested!

There's a black Ranger in there too, hope it will make it to the general public. But it sort of defeats the "we are streamlining our camera line-up" approach Jarred mention a while back. We have Epic W, Stormtrooper and now Ranger 1.0? Are we having 3 flavours of 8k cameras (Weapon VV, Stormtrooper, Ranger 1.0)? this is all getting interesting, at least till we see the cost!!!

Think the Ranger 1.0 is an accessory/expansion - looks like a add-on the the DSCM2 body - not an all new body form.
Nope, I don't think so, look at the 3 lemo ports on the front (to the right lens side) its not on any of the current DSMC2 body. And the top part says "Ranger 1.0 Helium 8k" suggesting Ranger 1.0 has a camera body type
Where do you guys see all these "Ranger" things? I can't find anything about it...
Here
BadAss...

Whatever Ranger is and if it can exist in our hands, I do hope it's offered in V-Lock to support RED's upcoming batteries and for those of us who love the V.

That sounded weird. Sticking with it though.

Secondary thoughts. It would be nice to have that disc to be personalize-able to a degree.

I respectfully disagree- from my research the Ranger is an overbody that can house additional 3rd party gear- latitude, terradeck, etc... The few Rangers that have been milled have been custom/ proto jobs and hence engraved for the camera owners since... why not. The 3 ports you see on the front are for the latitude and if my suspicions are correct it is not for the latitude that body mounts, it is for the smaller standalone version.

OK and now since I've been paying attention could I please order a custom one for my first feature shooting on Raven in October? Latitude, Paralinx Ace perhaps- Vlock too please, thanks- Kidding/ Not Kidding.
