  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Update Thread

I forgot. Feeling a lot better. I have inadevertantly been using things that remove plaque from the brain for weeks at least (discovered this as I was getting ready for my first doctors appointment, but not doing much stuff to repair the myelin sheath, leaving damage exposed which is nasty affect on cognitive function, as it is effectively slowly dying (and some quickly). That might be the cause recently. Started using some of the myelin repair stuff and fresh Cayenne chilli powder (age and heat can kill some active ingredients in it, but don't know about the growth factor) which is likely putting a insulating electrical protective coating on things and reducing short circuiting, speeding up thinking capacity up to 100x (these are actual figures from the science, and why people with more myelin are smarter proportional to the amount they have. Also why everybody should be interested because it makes you Mich better on the job). I won't know how much I have permanently degraded until I put myself to the test. I was coming up with a new way to do processing circuits for my processor design over a month ago, but need to figure out how to do binary maths across into separate processing type, a real doozie, as it is not progressive and might have to do it by a complex circuit function to get instant reliable results. Otherwise it's advantage could be cooked by a reliability bottle neck that will kill speed to be resolved). Good to be back :)

I have been using a few things that solved a few issues before this (been able to get around now and started designing things again before it slipped away) and was going to write a thread on it over a month ago.

Well see if I'm unfunctional enough to have to work in a team to figure things out. If enough area is being recovered and they can stop progression, and progression in to other parts of the brain, I'll be fine. But it is not certain what is causing it. It seems to definitely at least affecting the pituitary/hypothalamus and frontal lobes (rough week). :)

The best is yet to come (bringing out previous work, and some new).

Marc, you are new so you may not be aware.
Not that new: http://www.reduser.net/forum/member.php?56-Mark-Thorpe. We don't need to post inordinate amounts of nothing in order to grace this forum. If the lost password protocol was in a better state of repair I'd be the one sporting the Papa stripes, not that it means or proves anything anyway.

Mate you do babble on, and in ANY situation these days if you put information out into the public domain without the necessary levels of design, technical or other protection then you only have yourself to blame. The risk is yours in the event that if a few months down the road a new device or technology is released with features and designs that 'bear an uncanny resemblance to your comments'. I'd hazard a guess that all of these corporate entities of whom you speak have much deeper pockets than yourself? Deeper pockets = the ability to have expensive council on retainers happy to suck up your financial resources whilst you throw your toys out of the pram screaming "Foul". It's just the way it is.

. . . Or maybe start a thread on a module wish list and describe your ideal module. I am sure many others will describe their dream module. Then a 3rd party can use the thread to help them figure out what to make.

Is there a thread that lists all of the 3rd parties and the modules they have announced? That would be useful.

Great idea -- 3rd party or not, let's start with Bay handles with Rosettes, as I think you mentioned on JL's facebook post about them :)

There is OMOD as well. The POEs are already shipping. I have had a beta Command since last year, a Command RT on order and planning to get the Command RT+ once it ships. While it actually has much more than I want / need, it does include everything that I want / need, which is digital audio input, ACN time code / genlock and RT Motion.

We will probably see a lot more module options from 3rd parties now that they have an official 3rd party program. Maybe you can talk to your favorite accessory maker and see if they can build something you want. Or maybe start a thread on a module wish list and describe your ideal module. OMOD XLR doesn't exist yet. It's not available and only a handfull beta tester are using them. I mean the DSMC2 concept has been sold to thousands and no professional module have been made. I'm not a gimbal nor a belt clip guy. I need some controls over sound, fans, solid TC, V-lock batteries, why not some wiereless video and audio (superslot) option?

So do we have to wait until a 3rd party guy will announce a product to get the camera working professsionally without workaround?

If Fincher and the other guys would have had the perfect module/cam in their hands do you think they would have bother to make their own desing?
It's perhaps sexy to have a Xenomorph beast in your hand but this is the expression of some lack of desing that the DSMC2 module concept has.

At this point, seems like red has their hands full. Pretty sure this is why they were welcoming all these 3rd party solutions. Once people get cameras in their hands and production settles down I would imagine many new things will pop up.
and its interesting you mention some of the custom jobs red has been a part of. I can already see some of those unique designs becoming available to the rest of us (bayhem handles). and can see influences in their designs for Panavision. The Fact that Red is being asked to create these new innovations will only benefit the masses in the long run.
At any rate, I've been able to outfit my rig in a way that better in every way, as opposed to my original epic set up.
Looking forward to this year.

Well thanks Dan, but if you read the stuff you would know that is wrong. Certain people take things personally and sling it, and I say enough. Simple as that, and I am not the only one that should bother to read others posts and carefully examine and respond to them. I think your comments are perhaps directed to the wrong person taking things personally (I.e. read the post history). So if one contributes good, and another bad, what is one to do. Frankily, things are a physical headace trying to read and do good, as the mods know how many hours I will take doing a posts sometimes (4-6 hours) because of diminished capacity to read and write, but not to reason, just to be careful.

You are relentless... 😂

I have seen some new Scarlet w owners appearing on instagram and Facebook groups which is a big positive! Any news on where we are exactly up to with allocations for SW. I'm a day one order and haven't heard a thing about SW only orders yet so I'm guessing they are still allocated Raven switchers still?

We are past the early Raven switchers and are getting Scarlet-Ws out as fast as we can in increasing numbers ( as you have noticed ) but still hand to mouth on sensors... but we have almost double the ovens now so "should" be able to get out a bunch more Scarlet - W this month.

Jarred, I'm waiting on a Scarlet-W from a dealer... would orders placed through dealers possibly be able to do that October up-switch you referred to here and here?... I'm easily willing to wait until October if I can pay a bit more to get some more pixels for digital stills. I am perfectly happy with every spec of Scarlet-W, but just wish it could do 12FPS 6K or dare I say 1 FPS 8K for digital stills. Sometimes I use my camera just for stills and the more K the merrier. Thanks for your time. -a

Are you serious?
You asking for a 8K sensor for 15K?

BadAss...

BadAss indeed...

If you don't mind me asking (if anyone knows) what is the lens on that? Is it symmetric Biogon type or Distagon/retrofocal ? Sorry if that seems like an ignorant question as it would probably take me weeks to find reference to that (perhaps)? But looks super useful for the kind of stuff in our "Sand pit". [Assuming its an actual lens rather than a back focal plane calibration "device"].

Cheers!

Eric

@Jaimy ... Pow... Thanks!!

That's great that people are doing stuff like that (and thinking in that way) and at a price that is hard to imagine how they could do it for less? Similarly for their tilt plates. [I love their T shirt design and the burning tie logo ]... Having lived in New Mexico for ten years I like their emblem (mushroom cloud / fluid dynamics ). (I always thought that NM number plates should dispense with "Land of Enchantment" and instead say "Nice place to blow stuff up".)]. I'm really happy Jarred Land and Mathew Tremblay are thinking and doing in that kind of direction. We have to from time to time build metrology grade "Imagers", where we have to take stuff apart and rebuild it in Invar as a sort of "lens cartridge" and have precision ground tapered mounts that repeat to +/- 2 micron or better. So I'm super impressed and happy that Jarred and Mathew T are willing to BREAK standard ideas as to what a "lens" can be for all kinds of applications. Makes me happy!

Cheers for that. :-)

All these handles look great but let's get back to SW allocations. Where are we as of right now ? Still early Dec????

Think this is where they are? So that would make me think they are past dec 10th which is when the camera became available on red.com

They are not past Dec. 10th, cuz that's where I am and my bomber doods have no updates. I think you have to look at Jarred's words carefully here because he says "early Raven switchers" which to me means not all Raven switchers. At this point I will admit I kinda don't want my camera to allocate in a way, because of the big guy's hints regarding Scarlet-W people who are still waiting come October!!!:smilewinkgrin::smilewinkgrin:

Spam alert: it's such a shame there's no "like" button on this forum... :D

There is. Your post is a sincere way of showing agreement. A like button is a lazy fools way of showing meaningless agreement. '-)
