  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I think we will be seeing a 10k-11k VV cut of Helium in not too long.

(Probably shortly followed by a 4k-5k S16 cut.)

Hoping my post didn't come off as taking a free shot at Jarred... just stating facts that we know and wondering why what we know doesn't add up to what we reasonably expected.

The very clear part came after all the known sensors were in the wild (GOTU) and his personal camera. I'm curious if those cameras continued to perform or if they revealed a flaw somewhere in the tech.

Yes its it's kind of odd to be waiting on last generation as next starts to ship as well as idk what to do. Part of me thinks Panavision bought a lot if the VVs?

Well I don't think they intended the yield rates on VV to be this bad so I don't see it as being screwed necessarily but I'd love to jump on helium as an option until VV gets sorted? My second dragon I'm consider going CF soon just to keep options open on both units

It also seems a little weird that Helium could be dropping in October and I don't even know if I'll have my Scarlet-W by then... but then again, it's not like I'm paying the cost to be cutting-edge with the Scarlet-W, haha (1/6 the cost of the Stormtrooper!), so I suppose I should expect to lag a little.

I don't think buying more expensive camera put you in a faster line? Ravens are half the cost of Scarlets and it seems they go out in more quantities or at all compared to Scarlets.

The longer swaths of buyers languish away in a wait que, the less time they are earning money that could be put toward the filet mignon portion of the RED menu, particularly new users.

That was so poetic!

Jarred that is just unbeliveble, you are the man. What about The scarlet W love ?

I think a lot of people are having similar feelings right now. It feels a bit like standing still and watching the world rush by as we wait for what is now the older sensor technology. The good news is that Jarred stated that the introduction of Helium would speed the production of Dragon, which will be nice for those of us waiting in the queue. Also, the Scar-W crowd was promised the same kind of love that the Raven crowd was given, so hopefully we can look forward to that as well.

Yeah, right Josh? In the May update he promised that to Scarleters and crickets.

I'd also like to elaborate on my original statement (I started typing up a message the other day but lost it). It's important to realize that even though us Raven/Scarlet-W folks might *feel* like we're catching the back end of Dragon while something new is rolling out, we also need to recognize that the new Helium camera is the same ranking as the Forged CF Weapon was last year, which has now taken some time to trickle down into the lower-priced cameras (DSMC2 bodies w/ Dragon sensors). So when you aren't willing to spend $60k on the latest and greatest, it should be a given that it will take a little while longer for the new tech to come to the more affordable cameras. Even though Weapon has been out for about a year, I know a ton of people shooting on Epic Dragons (Epic MX's, too), with years of life left in them. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes another couple years for Helium to work its way into the Scarlet/Raven-priced cameras, and there's nothing wrong with that. I guess what I'm trying to say is that although people might feel like the Scarlet-W's are "outdated" before we even get them, the reality is that there is still a lot of life left in those cameras, especially when we consider the reality of how long it might take Helium to reach that price point (sub $15k bodies).

I'm still pumped for my Scarlet-W!

WOW

WOW

Everyone thank Brian. (snip)

Thank you Brian, drinks are on me... Huge respect to Jarred, Brent and the RedTeam for stepping up despite the financial hit. From day one the Madman wanted to treat customers the way he would expect to be treated. Keeping the faith in that implicit promise is deeply appreciated.

Cheers - #19
