  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

20K is the strange price because you can sell you MX for 12K, and add 18K and buy Epic-W for 30K, so I think price in 20K is too hihg for upgrade from MX to Epic-W. I think the price will be about 12K because there is no sence to upgrade for 20K, maybe only if you want get Epic-W more faster for a few months.

Looking forward to finally joining the RED family by purchasing an EPIC-W Upgrade tomorrow (first time RED buyer, January Raven to Scarlet-W timestamp, no allocation yet) but a bit worried:
In preperation for the big day, we already tried to order most of our accesories from RED Europe (Germany based, transfered to RED UK when RED Germany shut down) today, since we know only the brain upgrade is part of the deal.

UK Bomb Squad then advised me to order stuff from german reseller and not directly from RED Europe. Where does this leave us for tomorrow? Do we still place our order with our UK Bomb Squad rep or do we have to purchase our upgrade through a local reseller? I would feel much better ordering from RED directly since I would very much like to see our timestamp honored (which was the whole point of this amazing deal if I follow correctly) and would hate to end up with accesories but without a camera or vice-versa.

What´s the best way to proceed here? Looking forward to finally being part of this great community!

1. You pay the 19500 + send in your camera -> you get a new shinny Epic-W worth 30K - your cost, ~2weeks of waiting for the upgrade + 19500 + 60 for shipping

or you take your "sell my camera route"

2. Sell your MX for 10K (publish a reduser post or Ebay listing for 12K and hope for the best) - 2months later, drop the price to 10K, after another 2 months, drop the price to 8K, and maybe sell it for 7K! Then add 23K and get your Epic-W if RED can produce them fast enough and maybe get it in your hands in another 2 - 3 months. You would probably end up waiting 6 - 12 months and paying 23K or more to get the Epic-W via selling your camera.

Now you can see what the benefit of upgrading is! TIME which = money and money, so you end up saving MONEY, a LOT!

*it is important to understand that if anyone can purchase a NEW Scarlet-W brain for 10K, NO ONE will pay almost the same for a used EPIC MX :)

How did you figure that trading in your camera results in waiting only 2 weeks give or take?
 
Thorsten, just get in touch with Xinegear in Berlin, they are the Red Reseller in Germany, and Alfred Jaax, the owner of the company is the former Red Germany rep, he will take good care of you, as he does for all german Red Owners :)
 
About to hit the 24 hour mark. I can't help but feel giddy!

I am a super proud Scarlet-MX owner. I have had it for the last 4 years (it'll be four years this coming Sunday!). This happened courtesy of another generous one-time deal from Jarred for some battle-tested units that had been purchased in bulk for a single purpose, a bullet-time-like shoot. That was my way into the awesome world of RED.

The feeling I have today is the same feeling I had 30 years ago as I was headed to the store (90 minute eternal drive!) to get my Nintendo Entertainment System. Waiting in anticipation for the arrival of my Sega Genesis (thank you J&R's two week delivery of the late 80s) . Getting my first HDTV. My first Plasma. The first GPU (anyone remember 3dfx?), first 4k monitor, etc. etc. etc. So many firsts...

This will be my first "Epic". If it wasn't for Jarred's generosity, it wouldn't be happening for me.

I can't thank Jarred, Brent & Heather enough. I'm uber excited. Looking forward to tomorrow and the arrival of my first Epic, the Epic-W. Where's that remote from 'Click'?!?

what channels for the 11th offer? FB? Reduser? red.com? (someone mentioned phone?!! was there a number listed? operators standing by? LOL)
And some time between midnight and who knows when? Don't mind staying up all night but like I do have to make money the next day...
 
Hi guys, how are you ? I need a little help, i just received the DSMC2 Side Handle and Installed it, but it doesn't recognize it... What can i do ?

No, you're not tripping. I remember seeing the same thing as you, just don't have the time to look it up but its buried somewhere within this thread.

Right?! hmm maybe he's out of the loop. I wonder if anyone else has talked with their reps about MG to WH upgrade path?
 
its the 2nd post you are able to upgrade to the MG, most likely will be 9.5K cause thats the cost for MX to DRAGON Sensor.

Most of them already received basically the same deal to go from their Epic Dragons to Weapon Dragons that Sacrlet-W owners are getting to goto Epic-W but I understand.. people want to double dip.

Its like when you have two kids and one kid falls off his bike and you give him a cookie to make him feel better the other kid throws a temper tantrum and wants a cookie too. I get it..Human nature.

At any rate... As I already said all MG owners can go sideways and pay a bit less than those Scarlet-W guys are getting. And remember, most of you paid net less to upgrade to your MG cameras than Scarlet-W paid to get their cameras in the first place.

The other option unique to MG owners is to to pay 15k to upgrade all the way to the top of the line Weapon Helium 8K ( the $49k camera )

Dragon owners will not be able to upgrade to Weapon MG after October 11th, so if Helium doesn't interest you, and that's the camera you really want, this is your time to get it.

If you have Epic Dragon, you are going to pay more to Upgrade straight to Epic-W than if you had a Weapon MG to Epic-W , and you don't get the great MG accessory package.

I think, right now, nothing is official. therefore, even the reps are not allowed to talk about anything until they get the official info. Tomorrow should be when all the real info is released. i know we all want to get ahead and get our orders in, but we have to be patient.

It's like the Scarlet-X announcement all over. Pretty cool feeling for sure! They just keep upping the anti all while keeping on with these incredible offers for us.. So awesome!
