  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jarred, you got me thinking about making the jump from Raven to Epic-W... Doesn't hurt that my #61 paid for itself in less than 60 days... #jarredisdrivingmebatshitfuckingcrazy :laugh:

I wrote a script to F5 this thread every 60 seconds.

I don't want to get 10 pages behind and miss another spilt bean and/or opportunity to shower Brent with love and affection :thumbup:

But hopefully my main point isn't lost. If RED offers any discounts for first generation customers, that's a very kind gesture. I don't think they would have caught any flack for not offering it, especially not from me. I've been able to get 8 solid years of use out of this camera. RED owes me nothing.

Curious, For us that has carbon weapon and paid for the VV upgrade during NAB... what do we do october 11? Should we sit and hit the refresh button on red.com or do we already have a place in the cue for helium?
 
I can't imagine it would go over well for old RED owners to have to give up their cameras for the same price as if they placed a Scarlet-W order today. Or is that a perk of being "in the know" on the forums? I suppose after Oct 11 the ship will have sailed on the Scarlet-W upgrade offer, so to them it's still a $10k discount.

So I'll be giving up on my SD discount, but don't get me wrong, it's moving from one very generous offer to another very generous offer. I don't feel like I'm getting "screwed" at all, or 'entitled as I'm a SD owner. I would NEVER be able to afford an Epic-W without this path, so I'm very grateful.

I think you are on the right track here. I suspect - but can't be sure - that a certain amount of logic and fairness will prevail. If I gave up my Scarlet-W order (recently place, not delivered) and converted it to Epic-W but still had to pay $20K but I also had to send in my Scarlet Dragon, that wouldn't be fair and, thus, would probably not make sense.

As you pointed out, I (or anyone) could place a normal Scarlet-W order today, check out my options on 10/11 and (presumably) switch to Epic-W for a total of $20K, if I want. No Dragon needed.

And, BTW - I think the downside of this "new order" strategy is that you'll be on the bottom of the list for delivery of Epic-W.

Right, there are two paths going on here.

Upgrade as a DSMC1 owner (no Scarlet-W deposit required), which takes a trade in to do. Or, with the Scarlet-W deposit (Scarlet-Dragon Owner package), giving up Scarlet-D discount, but take the body for body upgrade for 20K (and keep your Scarlet-Dragon)

There is a way this makes since.

If you are a DSMC1 upgrader giving up your camera, you get a faster track to your Epic-W. If you go the Scarlet-W preorder route(assuming you are not on the "sorry" price tier), you are in the back of an ever growing line.

I HATE the phrase "not fair", and this a case where that phrase does not belong. But still love you guys!

From what I can understand, path 1, MX/Dragon Owner have a path, that requires a trade-in.

Path 2: Scarlet-W deposit holders get another path, (but that means converting your Scarlet-W Dragon Owner Package, to just a Scarlet-W to Epic-w, like the other depositors)

There is a 3rd option for Scarlet Dragon owners, which is to hold and get your Scarlet-W package, then upgrade that to Epic-W, so you get your discount, but that is a MAYBE, as they may close the Epic-W for 10k path before that can become true for you.
 
Are Epic Dragons lumped in with all the other DSMC1 cameras for the upgrade price? Because I've got a buddy who had a deposit in for Weapon Mg upgrade (with $5k accessory credit), and Brent said no more Mg upgrades. So is his only option to give up his Dragon + $20k for the Epic-W...?
